    Default UGA science experiment!

Well the story with these things is that at UGA, the science guys did this experiment and crossed a grasshopper and a locust. Then they let them all go, and they multiplied!!! Well for the past like 5 or 6 years, every summer, we have these things all over our yard. And we live right next to UGA. And every one of them has a different color to go with the black. Kinda wierd i know, because their bodies are so big that they hop and then crash when they land. Also they are getting huge, you can't tell by the picture but the one with the yellow is like 3 inches long and an inch tall!

I will add some more pics of some bigger ones, because they get friggin huge! Thanks for any comments!

you should just go buy some kind of yard lizard or bird that eats those things. You could prlly catch them and corner the market for free food to birds or something.. IDK.. might be fun to try and shoot them with a pellet gun!

In Namibia (South West Africa) we get these buggers once a year.
They're everywhere and eat everything. When you walk past a field you hear crunching as theres so many of them munching on the grass.

When you drive on some of the road it sounds like pop-rocks because off all the squishing as you drive over them. You car turns yellow from all the guts

They were also excellent candidates for custom fireworks rigs and pellet-gun target practice. They also each other when you throw them in a jar - uber cool to watch.

Yeah I found out that they had been around a lot longer than I had thought. But they are definately from UGA, and looks like they are responsible for a lot of modified insects. Thanks UGA!
