^ yup. needs to be hosted as a .png file to maintain the transparency.

for some reason though, 87_Turbo_II's host (Photobucket) somehow removed the shadowing and outline, this one (hosted @ imageshack) retains those.

oh opening it in photoshop had a huge black background, and I just used the magic wand and hit delete, I bet the tolerance was high enough to take the shadow with it.

What are you talking about png and gif for? all my signatures were always jpg..just use the forum color as your background lol

Yes, but then you can't use it anywhere else. Plus, there are seven different skins for IA.com, not everyone uses the default one. Png is pretty standard for transparent sigs.

Sorry! Png and Gif are just the standard image formats if you want a transparent background to an image. Png is better because it's closer to lossless compression and can save different levels of opacity (aka alpha channels), which Gifs can not.

I made this quick as an example.
