    Default New Cameras...

Well not really new, but I wanted to get your opinion on them and what you think about them...

I found this one yesterday at my fiancee's house and it comes with a 35-70mm and another huge one dunno what it is but it is a Minolta Maxxum HTsi (not digi). Looks like \/ this one.

and then the second one is also my fiancee's, but this is the digi cam that I have been using. It is a HP Photosmart 850xi Digi cam.

Lemme know I know we have a lot of camera people on here.

On the Maxxum both lenses are detachable...Im at school but I will look at the model number and both lenses. All I know is that her grandma bought the Minolta Maxxum HTsi one a while ago and it didn't come with lenses but she bought two and they can zoom like a mofo. I like the HP one cuz its digi and takes some goood pics.

lol and yea she said she had it laying around and saw me messing around and taking pics of the roses I got my fiancee and her dog yesterday and showed me the Minolta. said she hasnt used it in a while so I wanna get it from her lol.

HP makes some of the best printers in the world but I avoid all their other electronics like a plague...particularly the camera's. Sell them both and get a really good digital (Don't worry about one being a family "heirloom" )

The Minolta will take some good pics but be ready to spend a decent amount of money on film to throw away. If it is anything like a normal SLR there is a lot of trial and error but will be a good base for you to learn photography. The HP, I agree with Jason and avoid anything they make that is not a printer.

Ren, we will teach you how to use it.

Yea I heard lol...my fiancee's gma said she paid over $1500 for everything when they were new. The two lenses look nice and they have barely been used.

I'm going to try taking some nice pics on friday or saturday night at this spot that i thought of...they should turn out good if I can get a good picture of what I want to do.

Yeah I have over $1500 in my set up and am still adding. Next lens that I want is $1400 and I want to move up to the 20D so that is another $1100

Why is it larger? Lens size? Or did you get the battery grip and other stuff?

Quit bragging Matt, I'm fixin' to put a couple of "mods" on my girl too......

BTW, I have a Maxxum series old School SLR. I loved mine. It took incredible 35mm pics when done right. They are very good cams IMO. I still have like 5 lenses and a bunch of filters and stuff with mine. That's actually one of the newer versions of the Maxxum series if I'm not mistaken.

Like Matt said, get ready for the downfall of 35mm format.....expensive film and developing. You don't know what you've shot until you develop it....good or bad. After spending a ton of money of developing, you'll finally get to a point where you're good enough to get 99% of the shots you're looking for.

The plus side to 35mm is that even middle of the road cams can shoot incredible pics in the hands of someone that knows what they're doing. Whereas a digicam requires you to have enough pixels to blow a pic up to "photo quality", the 35mm is ALREADY "photo" quality if shot right. Some wedding photographers still use 35mm today for some of their shots that are going to be blown up past 5x7. Why? It's much less expensive to buy a 35mm that can do that than it is to buy a digicam worthy of the same.

    Hope that helps.

BTW, I'd keep both cams myself. Practice with the HP to get used to the manual settings. Then practice those skills onto the 35mm. Once you're comfortable with both.....THEN sell them and get you one GOOD digicam and be done with it.

Cool, can't wait to find out. One thing we both need to work on for this year is getting those bodies with those numbers and letter. I think it was a 20 and a D
