just read that. Need to wait a bit for the story to become more clear.
article I read stated:
"it was unclear who shot the man"
"unclear if there were 2 shooters or just one"
uhm, what? There must be something in the water....
This is horrible. It really upsets me that someone would have the outright nerve to even do this. I mean high schools and colleges are bad, but when you add kids to the equation it's a whole different level of fucked up. May he rot in hell.
-2002 Subaru Impreza WRX Wagon
-2004 Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec V *boosted* (parting out)
turns out he killed his father at his home first
then walked into the school to "talk with the principal" (his mom worked at this school)
He barricaded the door behind him when he entered the school
The principal turned on the PA so the school could hear what was going on and start to lock it self down
Gunshots over PA
Guy walks to his mother's classroom, shoots her, all the kids in the room, then himself.
There was a full lockdown at my school today(im in highschool) something about a shooting down the street. Either the gas station or the school academy. Not entirely sure about that though it just happened two hours ago.
Colorado, Oregon, and now this, idk

And who exactly would have stopped him? An armed teacher? I would pull my kids out of school the day they decide to let teachers carry. The SRO? He can't be in a bunch of places at the same time.
This incident is the exact same scenario as the theater massacre. The suspect was hell bent on destruction with the risk of dying in the process. No one person would have been able to stop either. If one person would have shot at him, it would have turned out different........bullshit. Both occurrences happened and ended exactly the way they were going to from the beginning whether one cop was there or a whole militia. They wouldn't have ran. To assume cross fire would solve something show me that I would not want to be around you if you were carrying a loaded firearm.
We can make physical and more importantly mental health treatment more accessible for everyone. But lesser, louder minds think socialized medicine=Hitler=the holocaust.
At the cost of how many lives? How many children would have died before someone qualified and accurate enough showed up? What if that one person in the dark, crowded theater shot at James Holmes and missed and hit and killed someone, or two people? What do you do then?Yes it was senseless, but it could have at least been stopped if someone was carrying. Same with the Batman instance, if ONE person in the theatre had shot at him, I bet he would have taken off running.
Giving everyone guns and telling them to shoot the bad guys is a shortsighted solution. Obviously the thought of death didn't phase this guy since he took his own life, so that's out of the equation in this case. I'd hate to even call it a bandaid. But sooner or later, untreated problems get infections. That's what I mean by we can't shoot at our problem forever. We've sat on our hands about the issue for so long, and now it's cost us almost 30 more innocent people.
The guy had a history of mental illness, no one could have prevented this what so ever.
I can't imagine going home to presents under a Christmas tree for my son if he was a victim. I would lose my shit even more. We buried a very close friend of mine a while back. I held everything in until we went outside and I saw his car. Everything hit me then like a freight train. Would be the same if I lost a son.
Yea when you lose somebody, You realize how much you really cared about them.
GOT VTEC?
I didnt mean to give the teachers guns, but merely to place more guns in schools ie police/ROs. My high school had 3-4 at a time. It appears that schools are becoming a bigger and bigger target, so why not beef up the security more to match the threat?
And with the theatre, similar solution perhaps. There's 3-4 cops at my neighborhood theatre every night as well.
The world is getting darker, and we need to react to it.
MORE JOBS!!!
win win.
Such a sad story and and myself worry about my kids at school everyday but these events always make you feel more worried ,i was saying to my wife last night that if i had to pay more on my tax each year as well as other parents to pay for a guard and better security features at the school i would do as i pay enough tax of things that i do want to.
Help out at Import garage so get to play in great rides and handle car parts could it get better than this.
I just messaged my kids school to say well done as they have been leaving a safety gate open which keeps the kids in and idiots out the school grounds. The gate has been left open for workmen which i understand but at the same time it is there to keep folks safe and today it was great to see they had locked it.

Banning guns just leaves the responsible carrying citizen unprotected.
The people that do these types of massacres will continue to have their weapons.
LOL @ anyone who thinks guns should be allowed at schools.
Why is it that America needs this mass amount of weapons? Don't give me some stupid BS about Switzerland or Israel or whatever countries carry guns and say we need that.
What happens when a teacher goes insane and uses his or her gun? It WILL happen if they allowed them.
We need GUN CONTROL, not banning of guns, but more control and more security in schools. My high school was like a prison, good luck to whoever would have tried to shoot there. More school security (aka legit security guards) and more gun control laws are the answer.
I don't get why half of you even mention a complete ban on weapons, that WILL NEVER HAPPEN.
I don't want to get involved to deeply in your argument as i don't know enough about it,but in the UK the gun law is very strict and does not say you can not own a gun you just have to meet certain requirements to own one,Could this is a middle ground for all parties. After all i guess yourself's would not want any idiot owning a gun.

I believe we need strict rules, if you're a law abiding citizen that only intends to own a weapon for person protection or recreational use than you should have no issues following the extra safety steps to own one.
What are some of the rules over there just out of curiosity?
Do you happen to know what those strict requirements are?
Right now in the US, unless you've been convicted of a felony, anyone with the money to buy a gun and get a concealed carry permit (a $20 piece of paper)can carry a pistol around with them almost anywhere they'd like. There are no accuracy tests, no crisis management tests, no mental stability tests. It is harder to get a license to drive a car than to own a gun.
When the issue comes up, people make false equivalencies and use straw man arguments like "drugs are illegal and people still get them" or "we should make baseball bats/fertilizer illegal too" or "Obamas gonna take our guns", and then the discussion goes silent. There's an incredibly large lobbying group for guns and gun rights, and they've used their power to grossly overextend the rights given by our 2nd amendment. They're powerful and they want to maintain the status quo.
That pretty much sums up our situation here in the US bro
