    Default bankruptcy

I recently had to file for bankruptcy after my fiance and I split. she left me with some pretty big debt as everything we owned and bought was done through me. now that we split I am looking for a apartment. do apartments check your credit to let you move in? i've never lived in an apartment so I don't know

They do check, however (especially in this economy) it's not the hit it used to be. Might require a larger deposit, but it won't "stop" you from getting a place.

Good luck with moving forward. Even if people ended up not filing, we've all been in various forms of financial ruin at one point or another. Not the end of the world.

There's a lot of private owner listings in the rental market. Most apartments or realty companies are robotic with their enforcement of policy, but with a private owner, you can get a place based on your presentation.

Sorry to hear that man. My friends with terrible or no credit have apartments. I am sure you will be alright.
