    Default Some Computer Assistance Please

Ok First off, still haven't gotten an answer for my old question on the damn SATA drives. I have a 160gb SATA drive right... I am wanting to reformat it, and reinstall the OS... I have tried almost all methods, none succeeded.

    Ok now my problem:
Some type of virus from hell, maybe corrupted sectors on hard disk... either way... screw it.
This happened one day out of the blue, don't remember what triggered it. Right now I wont fuck with it too much because I need my system for work, I do have another, but i'd prefer to use this one. Well none of my drivers seem to be working, didnt install anything that would cause a conflict. Can no longer hear sounds due to my onboard nVidia sound acting up, no longer can burn cds/dvds... cant do shit. It wouldn't be too much of a problem, nothing really important on here... but I really wanted to fuckin reformat... but due to the HD being SATA... its a bitch. I have another ATA drive on here.. but it is not hooked up. I switch back and forth, because most of hte hardware seems to be working on that drive. the drive however has 500mb free on it.. and my important files are on the faster SATA. Whenever i plug both in at the same time, they can not co-exist in harmony, no matter how I set the master/slave jumpers, no matter how I change the BIOS... wtf? First off.. How the fuck can I reinstall windows onto this SATA drive... here are some methods that I've tried.
-The usual boot up from CD... no hard drive found, yet when i set to boot from SATA, system boots right up.
-Running installer in windows environment, creates another boot menu from OS selector screen at bootup... When I Run that, I get Blue Screen and system halts.

Well anyways... If it is not too much of an inconvenience... If anyone lives in/near Lilburn or the Gwinnett Area with an extra SATA slot on their board... would you mind helping me out and formatting the volume and installing my OS cd on ur system? I can come to you or if you'd prefer to come to me, I'd pay gas. I can also throw you some cash, or we can hit the buffet afterwards on me Will give a front mount intercooler if thats preferred too. It has 3" inlet/outlet, both on same side, great flow.

    Any questions/suggestions? post it up
fuck this is pissing me off, just take a look at my device manager, it looks as if there is some sort of device conflict, as far as channels go.

oh yeah I scanned/updated just about everything humanly possible... that isn't the cause nor the cure...

And i now vaguely remember one thing that I did do... I unplugged the power connector from my IDE Hard drive, but left the IDE ribbon in, and hooked the SATA drive in, in laziness, the system ran unstably, so I removed the IDE ribbon, I thought nothing of it... but logically it seemed harmless.

lol exactly... how would i do that if all methods fail ...
windows setup-boot... does not pick up my SATA drive, but picks up my IDE (out of windows)
I can not install within windows because it creates a second boot of "windows installer", asks to restart and then boot outside of windows into this "windows installer"...which can not read the SATA drive... lol

you have to have the SATA drivers for the drive. When you put the Windows disc in, you will need to press F6 to install additional drivers (as though you were using RAID). I think this may solve your problem. You'd want these drivers to be on a floppy if at all possible.

I think it may be possible. Not sure though, I think I remember the instructions specifically saying "please insert diskette in to drive A:" maybe its worth getting a floppy drive from wal-mart, then returning it when you're done. lol
