New (to me) Taurus 24/7 .40
Well picked this up to day very slightly used, and so far am loving it, barely any recoil and shoots pretty accurate as far as i can tell through about 25 rounds today. Stripped it down and did a long cleaning on it, it definitely needed it, looked like it hadnt been hardcore cleaned since it was brand new, wasnt too bad though. I payed a bit for it, but I think its a pretty good deal. I love the way it feels. So far this is the most perfect feeling pistol (for me) ive found.
I have 2 of the .45 version and love them. The .45 is by far the loudest handgun I have ever fired. Good choice
Thanks lol, As far as I can tell, esp. from disassembly its very good made, and is a wonderful ergo pistol. Feels great! Hoping to fire about 50 more rounds out of it tomorrow.
If I am not mistaken, Delta operators played a big role in the design of this weapon. Which might explain why it's a pleasure to fire.

Looks pretty good. I had a 24/7 Pro DS in .40 cal. and it was a pretty good gun. The only complaint I would have is that it seemed like the mag springs were too soft and they might cause problems down the road. Other than that, it was fairly accurate, had good firepower, felt good in the hand, and was pretty reliable. I got rid of it because I didn't like the 1" of slack before the SA break.

Well fired about 75 more rounds through it today 15 more magtech, and 50 federal, and about 10 winchester, and fired every one with absolutely no hickups or jams. It was pretty funny my buddy brought his "better" S&W .40 looks the same feels very plasticy compared to mine and in the same condition, jammed about 4-5 times. Hahah lol. 0.0 Also fired his hi-point .380 today...man its heavy for such a small caliber, fired great though and felt good made too. Didnt jam in 50 rounds of remington.

If you are referring to SW40e or SW40VE, I do not like it better, LONG!!!! ASS!!! trigger pull, and just didnt like how it shot really. Hi-Points speaks for its self. That is one gun that u can judge by its cover! lol Anyways enjoy your new gun bro.

the 24/7 pro 45acp is the best shooting pistol i've had "so far". trigger was great out of the box and grouped very nice. and never had a jam.

Oh btw guys that have a simple carry pistol and want a cheap holster that works great, or just want one to throw your gun in if you dont have a case check out the airsoft and bb holsters at walmart - no lie they work great and theyre pretty damn good quality for 7 bucks. how in the hell do you plan on getting that buckle undone? If i were you i would seriously reconsider your holster choice. IMO thats a seriously flawed design.

^ Not for cc or anything, just to carry around so I dont scratch it up. anyway the buckle releases and the button release is functional. If I was using this for cc, i wouldnt be using a belt holster. For me this would be like a range carrying holster, etc.
ahh as long as your not using that as a defense holster.

Not really, just been checking out the taurusarmed.net forum looking and holsters that fit good, I havent even got my cc license yet so i need to go ahead and start on it while im looking for a carry holster. Dont know if I want an over the shoulder holster, or a side holster or ?? Guess I really need to check em out in person, thats the only way I picked this pistol, so prob. gonna be the same with holsters.

my fav's are the black hawk "carbon". and i found an old man that makes the shoulder holsters by hand at collinsville trade day for $25 and very nice for the price
Sounds like a good deal for a hand made holster.
You should be able to make the call on what location to wear the weapon by looking at your clothing, body build, and then looking at the benifits and drawbacks of each. Pretty much with out ever trying any holster on.
For example, a shoulder rig is more typically used for those in jackets, suits, or button up shirts (and leave one middle button undone for access, but thats not great imo). Hip holsters are without a doubt the best route to go first. They allow for standard draw stroke practice, an essential skill. Unlike a shoulder rig, where you cover people behind you and to your weak side during your draw stroke. Making practicing with a group of buddies quite scary/interesting.
Personally i would start by deciding if you want kydex or leather, or some type of hybrid holster. This is personal preference mostly. Each material has advantages and disadvantages, but none that i would rank as high priority. If you like your pistols to look like safe queens, then leather might be a good choice, its not as hard on the weapons finsih as kydex is.
Then ask yourself do you like the idea of an Inside the Waistband (IWB) or Outside the Waistband(OWB) holsters. Your weapon is a little on the bigger side, you may find IWB a bit more difficult.
Then position the gun on your body where you think it fits best, angle and move it along your belt, then move it up and down. Then search for holsters that mimic that the best you can. Alot of holsters now have tons of adjustability, which is nice.
Chances are you wont find "THE" holster locally. I would prepare to order them offline, and if you dont like them sell em on the forums. You may go through a couple before you find "the" holster that works for you.

OP - I think I have an extra fobus holster for one of these. I will check when i get home. I also think I have some extra recoil springs as well.
Danny.. you have been doing your research. He is correct when he says 97% of most off the shelf holsters will not work or fit correctly. I am a bigger guy so it took a while for me to find the one that works best. Save up some cash and look on alot of the forums for used holsters. if it doesnt work you can resell and only be out shipping usually.

Im leaning more towards the belt holsters just for ease of use and simplicity.
i checked them out last weekend. pretty nice, he even line's it with a headliner material that is very soft. nice for not damaging the pistol and ease of the slide in and out. the 25 is for a shoulder holster and its very comfortable. i would never thought i would have found one of these at a place like this
