Default I gotta be honest...military content inside...

I envy the folks that have spent time/are still spending time in the military. To go where you guys go, do what you guys do and see what you guys see is a blessing that you all may or may not cherish. I know you certainly won't forget any of it.

My grandfather seems to be on his last leg now and most anything he talks about is war related. He fought in N. Africa and Sicily and literally stormed the beach in Normandy (all WWII of course). What an adventure that had to be. Get paid to see the world and have the experiences he (you guys) have.

I've always hated that I was medically discharged before I could even go anywhere. I looked forward to traveling to wherever and having all those memories of different people and cultures. And it all vanished before boot camp was over.

You guys are lucky to do what you do. Good luck out there and be safe. Later, QD.

Good times man. If it wasn't for the military I'm not sure what I would be doing or where I would be now. Even though I am in the National Guard, I have had some great experiences in places I never even though of visiting. Some of my soldiers got to go to Egypt for a pretty laid back mission and had a blast, others got to go to Georgia (the country lol). Now we are in Afghanistan along with coalition forces from all over the world. It's cool to interact with them, especially in sports. Even though I have had some bad times in the military, I can't really complain about any of it. It has definitely been an interesting and enjoyable ride.

Thanks. It broke my heart, too. I had already tried for the Navy (Grandfather) and failed the hearing test at MEPS. A year later, I went to go for the CG, and "passed" MEPS and got to boot camp. Get two weeks in and failed the hearing test there. Sent home with an Honorable Medical Discharge and a check for $400, lolol. I was saddened because I'm an ocean person and wanted to work on the ocean.

    Oh well. Later, QD.

I almost thought I inspired this post, until I saw the post times. My family line has gone through a lot with the Army. A lot have even tried and were shot down due to medical issues that just followed down the tree. My dad tried and when they did a second check on his medical records they flipped the switch like it was their jobs. He really wanted to serve though. Which made me grow up wanting to serve, and as you can see in my own thread, I've pretty much made my decision.
