    Default Biblical Prophecies

It was briefly discussed in another thread that there are Prophecies in the Bible that have come to life. I believe the poster said it was the one proof that God is real and the Bible is real, or something along those lines.

Not owning a Bible, I can't really look up what they are talking about. So my request is this:

anyone who knows of the written prophecies, please copy/paste or type them in full (as many details) and then post the event they fortold.

this is for my own knowledge and I do not want people trying to argue that God does or does not exist. I'm just looking for the prophecies for my own research.

Is it really a fulfilled prophecy if the person involved has prior knowledge of it?

"No one will know the hour or the day of Jesus' return"

    Is this really a prophecy?

I skip the "end times" prophecies for now because according to the website they are worded horribly and I do not see many that qualify to be a prophecy.

Isaiah foreshadowed the virgin birth of Jesus

    Bible prophecy: Isaiah 7:14
    Prophecy written: Between 701-681 BC
    Prophecy fulfilled: About 5 BC
The Messiah would be preceded by a messenger

    Bible prophecy: Isaiah 40:1-5,9
    Prophecy written: Between 701-681 BC
    Prophecy fulfilled: About 27 AD
ok, these do not add up but maybe so someone so blind in faith to only read but not read into. as I am sure the creator of the website finds nothing wrong. how can Jesus be preceded by a messenger in 27AD when he apparently was born in 5AD? wtf God, quit bending time.

The Messiah would enter Jerusalem while riding on a donkey

    Bible prophecy: Zechariah 9:9
Prophecy written: Between 520 and 518 BC
    Prophecy fulfilled: About 31 AD
everyone rode donkeys back then, hell they still ride donkeys in the middle east this is not a prophecy.

The line of kings from David would endure forever

    Bible prophecy: 2 Samuel 7:16
Prophecy written: Samuel lived about 3,000 years ago
Prophecy fulfilled: Beginning in about 31 AD with the resurrection of Jesus Christ

This Bible prophecy, and a few others as well, allude to King David's descendants having an eternal hold on the throne of Israel.

King David lived and reigned about 3,000 years ago. His descendants continued to reign over all or part of the land of Israel until the time of the Babylonian conquest, which was about 2,600 years ago.

But, aside from Jesus, there has been no king of Davidic descent since the time of the Babylonian conquest. Jesus is fully human and fully God. As a human, he is a descendant of King David. As God, he is eternal. Therefore, he is in a unique position to fulfill the prophecy in which David's throne is to be eternal.
oh this one is convenient, there are no actual descendants of David, so they say his line of kings still exists to this day in Heaven? really now?

you know what, come to think of it none of these are prophecy, the bible was written after Jesus was killed yes? let me try to find where it says anything about

    one last one:

God's salvation would reach the ends of the earth

    Bible prophecy: Isaiah 49:6
    Prophecy written: Between 701-681 BC
Prophecy fulfilled: Beginning in about 31 AD
In Isaiah 49:6, the prophet speaks of a servant of God who would be a light to Gentiles (non-Jews) so that God's salvation could reach the ends of the earth. Christians acknowledge that Jesus is the fulfillment of this promise. The followers of Jesus helped spread Christianity about 2000 years ago. Christianity is unique in how it was spread - through evangelism - and to the extent to which it was spread, becoming the first to be taken to people all over the world. Christians believe that salvation, forgiveness, and eternal life in heaven are available to anyone who accepts Jesus Christ as their savior: "That if you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved" (Romans 10:9-10, NIV translation).
where is the proof other than death? you can't just say, oh Jesus was born that's why its true that there is a God and his Salvation reaches even non-Jewish people.

Daniel predicted the four great kingdoms

    Bible prophecy: Daniel 2:32-33
    Prophecy written: About 530 BC
    Prophecy fulfilled: Throughout history

In Daniel 2:32-33, there is a prophetic passage that symbolically identified the four great kingdoms that would rise up and control much of world, beginning in Daniel's lifetime. The passage uses symbolic imagery:

    1. The head of gold, as Daniel explained, refers to the Babylonian Empire that ruled much of the world about 2600 years ago.

    2. Daniel said that the head-of-gold empire would be followed by an empire symbolized by arms of silver. Christian scholars have often interpreted this to refer to the Medo-Persian Empire which later conquered the Babylonian Empire. The scholars say that the two arms refer to the two groups - the Medes and the Persians - who comprised the Medo-Persian Empire.

    3. The third kingdom was symbolized by the statue's belly and thighs of brass. Some scholars believe that this is a reference to the Grecian Empire, which conquered the Medo-Persian Empire. The symbol of a belly and thighs of brass suggests that the kingdom was to start out as a united empire but end up as a divided empire. Under the leadership of Alexander the Great, the Grecian Empire was a united empire. But after Alexander's death, the empire was divided up.

    4. The fourth symbol - that of iron legs and feet that were part iron and part clay - has often been suggested to be a reference to the Roman Empire, which later conquered the Grecian Empire.

These four kingdoms ruled over much of the world, and each of the four ruled over the land of Israel during times in which a significant number of Jews - and perhaps a majority of Jews - were living in their homeland. Before the collapse of the Roman Empire, Jerusalem was destroyed and hundreds of thousands of Jews were forced into exile. Even today, a majority of Jews live outside of Israel.
there is a major error in this one. even if those were the nations represented... the fact that none of those rule over Jerusalem now and Israel/Jerusalem now fight over it.

    Jerusalem will be trampled upon

    Bible prophecy: Luke 21:23-24
Prophecy written: During the first century
    Prophecy fulfilled: Currently being fulfilled

Jesus prophesied that the Gentiles, which is a word that refers to non-Jews, would trample upon Jerusalem until the end times.

It is interesting to note that when Jesus gave this prophecy during the first century of this era, the Jews had considerable control over the city of Jerusalem, even though they were forcibly incorporated into the Roman Empire. The Jews had a Temple in Jerusalem and were able to carry out various Temple functions associated with Judaism.

But, about 40 years after Jesus prophesied about Gentiles trampling upon Jerusalem, the Romans destroyed Jerusalem and the Temple and forced Jews into exile. Even today, nearly 2,000 years later, the Jews still do not have enough control over Jerusalem to rebuild their Temple on the Temple Mount.
this one is more of what I have been looking for, due to the current conflict in the area. does anyone else have more stories or prophecies that match the likelihood of this? that website really was a bomb, didn't find much there

why not pick up a bible yourself and search. dont trust a website that some man or woman interpreted themselves. as far as this
ok, these do not add up but maybe so someone so blind in faith to only read but not read into. as I am sure the creator of the website finds nothing wrong. how can Jesus be preceded by a messenger in 27AD when he apparently was born in 5AD? wtf God, quit bending tim
Jesus did not begin His ministry untill the age of 30/31. john the baptist was saying that he (john) would baptize unto repentence but Jesus would baptize with fire and the Holy Spirit. thats what that prophecy means by the messenger coming before Him.

like i said read into some of the prophecies in the bible yourself and then come to your own conclusion.

i don't own a bible, thats why iI was hoping someone that does could point me in the right direction, but I am looking for more recent events, say things that happened in the past 200 years rather than thousands, that way I can look into how accurate it is/isn't

the book of revelations chapter 4,5,6 deal with the first 6 seals of Gods wrath and the 4 horsemen of the apocolypse. the first horse is white horse that the rider brings forth ungodliness and delusion. the second is the red, bloodshed and war( war on terrorism and the confilct in the middle east) which will undoubtedly lead to the next world war as nations start to advance and bear arms. the third is the black horse which deals with famine.( look at how many deaths occur with lack of nourishment in the world) and finally the 4th horseman is death himself and with these horsemen they are given power over a 1/4 of the earth (around 2billion people dead). i believe its safe to say that this world is leading to a huge nuclear war and that 1/4 of the population will surely die

interestingly enough i have had some strange dreams regarding nuclear explosions in Chicago area, Virginia beach area, and Hawaii. all of which hold military bases. they were pretty weird and years apart. so maybe.

are there full on passages/stories you can post about these horsemen. also, who do the horsemen supposedly represent?

this is a very plausible outcome. when china, north korea and other nations have military might and technology you better believe that war will be inevitable. it will be a literal hell on earth.

heres something else for you. im sure you have heard of the mark of the beast 666 yes? here is the biblical scripture and prophecy: "He also forced everyone, small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on his right hand or on his forehead so that no one could buy or sell unless he had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of his name. This calls for wisdom. If anyone has insight, let him calculate the number of the beast, for it is man's number. His number is 666". revelations 14:9-12

now knowing that these people 2000 years ago wouldnt have and idea about what technology we would have watch this...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gOH3obzvHzk
    or this one...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fe4JVAnA5Xw

there is only these chapters that talk about the horsemen but man books/chapters that talk about the last days and prophecies. the four horsemen of the apocolypse are widely accepted to represent the "antichrist" who will be given power to war against the nations and the people of God. just imagine a modern day Hitler figure that the world lets lead them and this time instead of genocide of the jews it will be the christians because we refuse to follow him and worship him and comply with his laws so were are then labled "terrorists".

I have heard of these chips, they have benefits and of course, many faults. for one, the Government would have too much power over the people, which is where they are headed anyways, ha.

so wait, the president is the anti-christ? I believe it. socialized medicine sounds good... but its a nightmare i promise, taxes will increase to over 50% of income, clinic/hospital wait time will increase from 2 hours to ten hours... just look at canada... sure you "dont have to pay" but taxes are over 50% so everyone pays. I actually linked a page on my facebook to a story about some research and development that has been going on for the past decade using GPS and automatic starters for cars, and if you havent paid the monthly road use tax.... your car wont start.

my facebook is www.facebook.com/douglaspearrow if anyone wants to add and see

i agree but the bible is a very complex book....the meaning of what is written isnt always clear when ur reading it......especially when it comes to prophecies....

its a good thing to be interested in this subject because these prophecies can determine our future...

(the book is 100% based on the bible and has texts that u can verify it by...its not a biased opinion or someone's personal opinion) best part is for free! lol just pm ur address or something and ill send it to u..... just lemme know.....

yes, war will never go away. not until one nation successfully conquer's (even if through purchase) the entire world, or at least most of it.

the book of revelations is refering to a specific war. sure there have always been wars but if a world war broke out now we can all agree that the death toll would be like something we have never seen. it would only take one nuclear world war to end everything you hold dear to you and the possibility of it happening are very high. just think about that

I could see a World War being more noticeable than the war on terror. though the death toll would mostly be on the other side, we have so much technology and really steer away from endangering our soldiers lives now, an 8 year long war has produced what? 5000+ casualties? that's a walk in the park. world war 2 had 20-30-40k people die in a single day.

nuclear war would be a disaster, we do have nuclear countermeasures (ARROW 2 missile, PATRIOT, etc...) but should one get through, that would open the door for the U.S. to use them.

there is a term called "Nash Equilibrium" which basically states, one country nukes another so the other launches many nukes back, and so forth till neither side wins and both sides lose.

I posted up my dreams (I mentioned earlier)
    Here: The Sleeper Awakens...

nsany(atl), The Mayan calendar? are you serious?

look man I'll put it out there for you: how effin large do you think a STONE calendar can be? it has to stop some place and they stopped it at the end of the ERA or AGE, not end of the world. December of 2012 (either the 12th or 20th day, i forget) marks the end of the AGE of Pieces and the beginning of the AGE of Aquarius.

Please stop believing everything you read on a conspiracy theory/apocalyptic website.

ocelot....i actually find the mayan calender very interesting...it ends at the end of the age of picese. in the bible Jesus says." i will be with you untill the end of the age." mathew 28:20. is it just a coincidence that Jesus is symbolized by a fish which is the current zodiac sign we are in and we are coming near the end of that? is this signifying the coming of the Lord at the end of His age(picese)? very interesting

I've done some interesting reading on this stuff as well.

Check out some of the stuff that Dr. Carl Calleman theorized on this. It is very intriguing to say the least.

every prophecy that has "came true" has only been twisted in interpretation so that it "matches" to come true

Isaiah foreshadowed the virgin birth of Jesus

    Bible prophecy: Isaiah 7:14
    Prophecy written: Between 701-681 BC
    Prophecy fulfilled: About 5 BC

    Quote:
The Messiah would be preceded by a messenger

    Bible prophecy: Isaiah 40:1-5,9
    Prophecy written: Between 701-681 BC
    Prophecy fulfilled: About 27 AD

Jesus didn't actually begin his "ministry" until he was apprx 30 yrs old. So the time frame is actually pretty accurate, give or take a few years.

As far as there being a messenger preceding Jesus, it's said that it was John the Baptist that was the Messenger preceding the Christ, who would then baptize Jesus as stated in the Gospel.

Therefore, he is in a unique position to fulfill the prophecy in which David's throne is to be eternal.

you know what, come to think of it none of these are prophecy, the bible was written after Jesus was killed yes? let me try to find where it says anything about
As far as Christian beliefs, Jesus was from the lineage of King David, basically making him an heir to the thrown. The people of that day believed that he was the coming "king" who would overthrow Ceaser and free Jerusalem (hence the prophecy of the Messiah entering Jerusalem on a donkey and the people placing palm branches before his path, as they did for royalty)

So, on a belief aspect and the prophecy in question, those who are deemed "Christian" are thus brothers/brethren with eachother; hence, deeming them children of God (just as Jesus was the son of God, making Jesus a "brother") and thus making Christians heirs to the thrown of God.

So to go full circle, if Jesus were our brother (taken into context), that would make Christians descendants of David, fulfilling the prophecy.

    Their really are so many...

One that I found really interesting: Zephaniah 1

The Great Day of the Lord

14 "The great day of the LORD is near—
    near and coming quickly.
Listen! The cry on the day of the LORD will be bitter,
the shouting of the warrior there.

15 That day will be a day of wrath,
a day of distress and anguish,
a day of trouble and ruin,
a day of darkness and gloom,
a day of clouds and blackness,

16 a day of trumpet and battle cry
    against the fortified cities
    and against the corner towers.

17 I will bring distress on the people
and they will walk like blind men,
because they have sinned against the LORD.
Their blood will be poured out like dust
    and their entrails like filth.

    Sept 11th Maybe???

Hold on, I'll find some more.

    Here's A Good Website: http://www.jeremiahproject.com/proph...fthetimes.html

" wars and rumors of wars" - Matthew 24:6

Endless war seem to rage in Iraq and Afghanistan and the war on terrorism is spreading to nearly every corner of the globe. Since 2000 alone, America has been mired in conflict in Sierra Leone, Yemen, East Timor, Afghanistan, Philippines, Cote d'Ivoire, Iraq, Liberia, Georgia, Haïti, Pakistan, Lebanon, and Somalia.

We have elevated war today to include even unspecified enemies. The war on terror has no particular enemy and not directed towards any specific country. It has been generalized to include just about anybody that disagrees with the ruling power. As such, it almost guarantees perpetual war.

...but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come.

As Jesus points out, war is not necessarily a "sign" of the end of days, rather something that must happen as people continually slide into the chaos that results from their rebellion against God.

"Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom." - Matthew 24:7

Other conflicts are raging in Darfur, Saudi Arabia, Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of Congo, Thailand, Chad, Gaza Strip and the West Bank in Israel, Niger and Mali, Kenya, and Sri Lanka.

"There will be famines and earthquakes in various places." - Matthew 24:7

Every year, earthquakes cause thousands of deaths, either directly or due to the resulting tsunamis, landslides, fires, and famines.

3,000 people died in the 1906 San Francisco earthquake.
Around 110,000 were killed in the 1948 earthquake in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.
More than 5,700 deaths were reported following the strongest earthquake ever recorded in 1960 in Southern Chile.
While only 15 people died in the 1964 Prince William Sound in Alaska quake itself, 110 more people were killed in the resulting tsunami.
66,000 were killed off the western coast of South America in the 1970 Peru earthquake.
Between 250,000 and 655,000 died in the 1976 China earthquake that struck Tangshan, then a city of one million people.
63 people were killed in the 1989 Loma Prieta quake -- which struck the San Francisco area.
60 people were killed in the 1994 Northridge quake in Southern California.
More than 5,000 were killed the 1995 Kobe, Japan earthquake.
230,000 (and perhaps as many as 290,000) people in 12 countries -- including about 168,000 in Indonesia alone were killed in the 2004 earthquake just off the west coast of the island of Sumatra, and the tsunami that followed.
More than 80,000 people were killed in the 2005 Pakistan earthquake.
More than 69,000 people died in the 2008 Sichuan China earthquake.
We're hearing of an increasing scarcity of food on a worldwide scale, due to increased consumption in growing countries such as China and India and rising fuel costs. These shortages have caused riots in some places and some predict the future outbreak of wars fought over increasing food scarcities.

    Change

The twentieth century was an unprecedented period of change and the twenty-first century is proving to be even more dramatic. At no time in history have more changes occurred in science and in the political structure of the world.

More changes occur in science in a single year than formerly occurred in a century. The breathtaking pace of technological advancements insures that few of us can keep up with the rapid change and perhaps more important, the inability of society to keep pace with the ethics or morality behind many of these changes.

The crumbling of the Eastern Bloc of Europe and the Communist Empire.
The opening of the Berlin Wall and the reunification of a divided Germany.

The world's brightest beacon of liberty has been corrupted by immoral bankers and is now quickly becoming one of the greatest forces of evil in the world.

With Israel restored as a nation in 1948, the panorama of end-time prophecy came into a focus in which Israel will be a prominent player. This event has been at the core of political instability in the Middle East, triggering the growing Islamic vs Zionist jihad.

The introduction of the concept of a world government, made real by the United Nations paints a scenario that is in harmony with Bible prophecy concerning a future world government.

The wholesale collapse of ethical and moral values throughout society and government. Children are killing their classmates, employees are killing fellow employees, and government leaders are promising change.

The weakening influence of our churches and their leaders.

The world has entered a time of dramatic and ominous change. At the present moment of history, the planet Earth is in grave crises. This celestial ball is on a collision course with its Creator. We have reached the day which the prophet had in mind when he wrote,

"Woe unto them who call evil, good, and good, evil" [Isaiah 5:20]

Man has pushed the self-destruct button. Foundations of godliness have crumbled; things sacred have come unzipped. We have embraced the pagan teachings of Al Gore while rejecting the time proven commandments of God. We are trying to build a peaceful world, but there is no peace within people's hearts.

We must have an outpouring of the Holy Spirit. Somehow God must reveal himself to this lost generation. Everything else has failed. Education has failed our youth. For the most part, parents have failed them. Government has failed to reach them. Dead religion has turned them off.

Billy Graham quoted John Walvoord in his book, "Storm Warning":

"The present world crisis is not a result of any one factor, but a concurrence of causes and effects which combine to set the world stage for a conflict which may quickly bring an end to hundreds of years of progress in western civilization and establish new centers of international power. Whatever the future holds, it is going to be dramatically different than the past. In this dark picture only the Scriptures chart a sure course and give us an intelligent explanation of worldwide confusion as it exists today."
