Ripping down/Painting wallpaper (ideas)

I figured this may be helpful to those who run into the same problem...

TAKING DOWN WALLPAPER: never put wallpaper directly on unpainted/primered walls. it will not come off so easy and will tear the sheet rock up.

So we bought a older home last Dec... we started taking down the wallpaper in a bathroom and it started pealing the paper on the sheet rock off the wall making it no long smooth. Well the rough wall doesn't look so good as is, but a quick fix is to buy textured wall plaster. This will give your walls a textured look like stucco and after a week of drying you can paint over it what ever you want. The method we found best is to us a spackle the texture wall plaster one in various directions to make a nice uneven texured look. The walls will have a nice depth to them making a shadow like affect. (see pic below)

PAINTING OVER WALLPAPER: Sometimes its much easier to work w/ what you have... we painted over the wallpaper in another bathroom than taking it down to save time/effort/$$$... they make primier specifically for this, after it drys paint away. This is a great way to rid yourself of that nasty paper the previous own left.
