Yeah that can happen. I'm running mostly O.S Engines in my cars and thinking of putting a 21 tm in my Jato. Just make sure that you tune it when you go out for the best performance.

Can't believe I've missed this thread for so long! That's what I get for never coming into this forum.

So I've been into R/C for a while, starting with a Micro RS4, then an electric Evader (I'm cheap), then an RS4 3 Evo, and a Pro 4 recently. The Evo is my favorite by far, because I feel like electric just kind of sucks in comparison. I need the noise and the nitro smell and all that. I've had this thing for probably 5 years, and for the majority of that time I've wanted to make custom parts. This summer I'm working in a lab with access to the appropriate machines, so I took the plunge and ordered 1/8" (3.18-mm) 7075T6 aluminum sheet. The results:

Evo with new friend, Pro 4 I picked up on eBay. This is pre-teardown.

    Metal!

    An impressive device (waterjet)

    The suspense of the cut...

Need to rinse off the garnet, but it looks good from here...

Chassis, bumper brace, steering link, and steering spacers.

Very pleased with how everything lined up...

The easiest way to guarantee perfect hole size and placement.

    Done, for today at least.

Came home to some love from Tower, mainly shock and diff oil and a couple of replacement plastic pieces

All holes and slots lining up...

    Crowded desk.

I'm excited to see how this thing works for me. It's quite a bit smaller than the stock Airtronics AM transmitter, uses half the batteries...

Check out the difference in size between the 2.4 GHz and AM receivers... impressive!

That's all I've got for tonight. The chassis is not quite done, and while it came out very well in my opinion it's not perfect. The front differential case (whatever it's called) slot is a couple mm from where it needs to be, so I will be working with Mr. Dremel soon to fix that. I also need to go back and countersink most of the chassis holes. I'll probably sandblast the chassis after all adjustments are made, and take it to the lasercutter to put a nice little logo on it. I'll also look into the bends on the chassis sides.

You might be wondering why I made an aluminum bumper plate and steering linkage. The answer is boredom, and desire to cut cool stuff for the hell of it. I realize that the stock pieces were just fine, but hey, these should work well too. And if the front bumper brace actually gets bent in a crash, I have the CAD file and a massive amount of 7075 sheet left.

The steering spacers I made mostly because I lost 1 of the 4 stockers, and they're close to 1/8" thick as it is. I figure any additional friction they cause from being metal will be insignificant considering the rotational speed demands of a steering linkage.

I won't be able to wrap up work on the chassis and other parts until Monday, but with some luck I should be running by the middle of next week. I've got a pretty huge amount of leftover material, and I'm considering the idea of producing parts for sale.

^ Wow! Great work on that Chassis!

My old 2.5 T-Maxx. It's a lot of fun but I don't really have much time for it anymore.

Thanks man, I've already developed a lower-weight new version that corrects the hole placement error and cuts out some more material.

I've always wanted a monster, but it's just out of my price range for now. One day I'll pick one up...

Haha yeah thank the MIT Media Lab for that... just don't tell them.

I've wanted to design custom stuff for a loooooong time, and this summer I lucked out. I've got another week of this access and a big sheet of 1/8" 7075 left... Might have to just cut as many of the chassis V2 as I can!

I been into these for a decent time. I only have 3 now though. Not a whole lot done to them. Only have pics of one though.

I've got an HPI Savage 2.5, running a 4.6 motor, thats it.

Got an old Duratrax Nitro Quake. With a 3.0 Torq motor. Nothing done to it.

Then i've got my Associated MGT. Pictures show it with the factory 21 AE motor, 13t bell and a 51t slipper gear, Tuned pipe, minor suspension, the pipe I anodized myself using the battery charger and clothing dye method. The wheels are RPM dyable's which I dyed. Idr the tire brand, I havent had it out in a while, being as the front skid plate is bent which also holds the steering points in place.

Now its also running the 4.6 motor, HPI tuned pipe, 18t bell, 47t slipper, no 2nd gear. Reverse removed. Billet body shocks, quick steering and throttle servo's. and a roll cage I built myself out of the stock spokes from my KX250F after I crushed a wheel . I'm fuzzy as can be on the parts names, I dont have the truck here, or i'd pull her out and tell ya.

I've also relocated the throttle/brake servo, for even quicker response

    Anyway here's my bitch

Yeah they can be fast. 55 is to slow for me im trying to push 80 or more in my cars now. Most of my cars can do 70 with 30% nitromethane.

Nice to see im not the only one. Got a t-maxx 3.3 beast!!! with some RPM arms and skid plates and a roll cage for this summer backyard bashing. and some tires and rims from stock for the 3.3 to stock from my E-maxx (RIP , it will be back with LI-po) to stable max rims and mulchers.

and my On Road is a HPI Nitro2RS4 with everything done carbon carbon everything, 2-speed, MIP CVDs and etc. O.S. CV-R .12 looking for a long a smooth place for a 70+mph run.

oh and im a body whore... 350Z and Ford GT are the newest for this year. had many many other bodies. but right now only the A4 ROAR legal, M coupe, C5, 350Z and Ford GT survive. and for the Maxx truck stock body, low profile stadium truck style truck to Titan. Im a body whore what can i say.

stock e-maxx chevrons on top, stock 3.3 t-maxx on bottom.

stable maxx rims and mulcher tires top, stock 3.3 on bottom... about what a 1" wider on side of the truck

Roll Cage new for this year. woot!!!

RPM arms and skidplates best thing ever.

Left Mulcher, mid stock 3.3 t-maxx, right stock E-maxx

    turck bodies

left Foam tires for On-Road, mid rubber BELTED tires and mesh rims, right drifting plastic tires(my rice me out rims)

Carbon and Carbon and more Carbon

    new for this year

    more new for this year.

Old POS C5 never paint shit yellow

that's what happens when you run a big block. Things break and wear out. That's why it's a hobby. Btw, I've had several consecutive tanks without failure . But anyways, what's your point here, mike?
