    I just skimmed over the thread, but I have not seen anything about what type of protein you should be getting. Sure, 1 gram of protein per lb of body weight is a good rule of thumb for getting in shape and not starving your muscles, but 2 grams per lb will be more effective when trying to build lean muscle mass. Not all protein is the same. Different proteins have different effects.

    thus is true. and no consuming that much protein will promote gaining muscle mass and strength with the proper workout. if you wanted to just get in shape you really could do with just half your weight in grams of protein and more reps per exercise....
