Without a doubt! ...but, just like with most fitness routines, you have to be very disciplined & be sure you watch what you eat. A friend of mine started the P90X program but didn't finish due to traveling for work but, the things that he did had a definite positive affect on his endurance, strength, and I could look at him as see that he lost quite a few pounds.

Ok when I went to basic I did what you did, it kinda helped me.......But you will ge smoked.. I had o do bout 1000 jumping jacks at a time (side straddler hop)...Front/back/go..Front means drop and do pushups, back means rollover and put ur hands under ur butt and do leg flutters, go means get up and run in place..I also had to run 5 miles every morning....you will be times on how many pushups u can do i 2mins, situps in 2 mins and 2 mile run..My best was a 10:55 2 mile run, 102 situps and 96 pushups...Also just remember its a mind game. My class started with 248,,,46 made it.

Start eating Healthy, weight train all your muscles on a regular basis, and for cardio run 3 miles 4 times a week either outside or on a treadmill. It's ok if you can't run all 3 miles without stopping, but build up to it gradually.

If you do these Basic training will be a cakewalk.

but considering you're too lazy to look up this info somewhere else, you're also prob too lazy to follow through with all this stuff. Good luck either way.

I'm not a dick, I keep it real. That's the truth. I use to weigh 205lbs of fat. I then changed my diet, started working out, and the weight slowly came off.

I'm now 6'2 and down to 185lbs and feel great! But getting in shape takes a lot of commitment, it's not doing it every once in a while, it's a lifestyle change. You have to be pretty lazy to choose not to look this info up on your own, and to rather start a thread about it and wait for several ppl's opinions. Opinions of ppl who are probably out of shape. LOL

I mean it's not like you can just type in menshealth.com and find all you need to know about health and fitness...palm to face

Running really isnt a good way to drop weight. At first you might possibly see some loss in weight, but it really wont be much. To drop weight you really need a variation in heart rate for extended periods of time. Doing sprints is much better than running long distances. If you are trying to lose weight and you are distance running your body is doing the opposite of what you are trying to do. By distance running you are training your body to use as little energy as possible to sustain activity. There is a saying that "you get fit to run, not run to get fit." I would probably take the advice from the guy who posted above who has actually been through basic and made it.

run... alot.... You need to be able to run an x amount of miles in a x amount of time.
You will be doing alot of pushups/situps....
Start drinking alot of water.. if you smoke, might as well quit... I would try to cut out any type of soda out, including diet.

lol I went to basic back in '98 two weeks out of high school I came off a four year drug binge right into it. The only exercise I had up until then was BMX riding and fuckin.

My advise don't worry so much about the long runs because when you run in formation it's slow as shit anyway and if you fall out of one of those you are a failure at life. Work on your two mile and sprints. But yeah push ups and sit up are a must. If you don't want to stick to doing just those work on the target muscles for those particular exercises...... IE push up= triceps/pecs situps= abs/obliques/hip flexors.

actually the way to determine if you are fat or not is not by your size and weight. But to determine your body fat percent... http://www.scientificpsychic.com/fitness/diet.html

thats a pretty good place to go find out what yours is i am at 12.4 according to an average of the different places i visited that measure your body fat percent.

it promotes lean muscle mass and weight loss. but you can change a few things an gain mass and strength from most of it
