Default I'm confused (x-ray, CT, etc)

I got in a wreck and went to the hospital for neck pains. I had an x-ray and everything was fine. I had an evaluation 3 days after the wreck (today) from my pediatrician on my neck, and he ordered a CT scan. Why would he have me take a CT scan if the x-ray was ok?

Just a little confused on the situation.

just a precaution. The CT scans give them a more detailed look than just x rays.

So it's probably not because he thinks something is wrong, just taking a precaution.

What could be wrong if the x-ray was ok though?

For example x-rays can't detect inflammation or damaged blood vessels in that general area well. He just wants to make sure the tissue in that area is ok.
