Not All Pits Are Viscious!

Well this is in response to law maker in Florida and soon to be Louisiana, instead of banning the whole breed of pitbulls from the state. Allow owners to get waivers from the vets who can psychology determine whether the particular dog is a threat cause not all pits are raise up to be fighter. Although they come from a possible fighting blood line. Sounds like a good idea to me! If the individuals dog can be proven to be not use for fighting, grant a waiver with guidelines.

hey i have a pit named piggy and she is the sweetest dog you'll ever meet. she is like a big puppy. she loves my nieces. but don't get me wrong. i have her fenced in because she is very protective of them and especially my mom. they are good dogs.

I don't care how sweet your dog is, if you've never beaten or even looked at your dog mean, all it takes is a split second and real animal nature can kick in. Exactly!!!! i hate people that breed fighting dogs... anyone who does should be thrown into the pit while the dogs are fighting!!! It give's these beautiful dogs a bad name!!!!

Very true But if u think about it THey breed pitts for fighting. Its in there blood (bull blood line) . I love pitts but personly i never heard of a pitt not snapping at their (master)

My pit is a brindle... she isnt full pit but she would still be covered by the law, because she looks like a pitbull. I've done alot of studying up on them.. specially working at a vet and I will say this... I would rather work with a pit or a dobi, then a rottie or a chiuahuah, or a shih tzu. I HATE rotties.. If people think pits are bad.. Rotties are worse...alot worse. But no one says anything about them... just pits.. It really depends on the owner.. and how you bring them up...

WTF now thats crazy talk. Pitts are more aggreesive then rotties. Rotties are used for police and guard dogs. So why u say rotties are worse then pitts. Rotties are alot smarter then pitts. Plus pitts hurt and kill way more people then rotties

Ive been dealing with animals on a daily basis for over 5 years now.. and I have had more of the docs and tech i work with say they have actually refused clients and fired clients who have rotties then pits... My first actual bite was from a rottie who backed me in a corner... never once have I had a pit do it to me.. and Ive dealt with some badd pits.. including abused ones and ones we have to take care of and then they go to animal control and get put to sleep.. did you know at any animal control if they have a pit, they WILL NOT put it up for adoption.. but a rottie they will? Thats some shit if you ask me

my girl just got attacked yeserday by a rott. she didnt even do any thing and it locked on the side of her whole body my friend has 12 pitts and not onee has bitten anyone thats why rotts ae worse

Look i had rotties all my life i had 6 and i never got attack. But when u say u got back in to a corner. Maybe the rottie did not know u and felt afraid and just attack u. . So tell me this why the police used rotties and not pitts Tell me that and u win this whole thing

that's true. all my rotties have always attacked someone but not my pits. cops use them because they are lighter than pits. well at least they look like they are. i really don't know the weight of each dog but if u compare a pit with a rottie, u will see the muscle tone on a pit a lot better. i'll see if i can get some pics of mine, she is only like 5 months and she is big as hell and has a lot of muscle definition.

Please don't stereotype. A lot of animal controls put hardwork into rescuing pitts. Understand that stereotypes of this sort shoot down the efforts of shelters that initiate programs that don't perpetuate stereotyping of breeds.
In essence what you're doing is justifying one steretype by adding another.

As far as I know, Cobb, Coweta, Spalding, Bartow and a schlew of others do in fact adopts pitts.

Also, the single strongest argument against breed specific legislation is enforceability. With the outrageous number of pitt look a like mixes (boxer mixes, american bulldog mixes, etc...) how are enforcement authorities to decide who goes and who stays? This sort of blanket legislation is known as "profiling" and is a direct infringement of our constitutional rights.
The problem with pitts is they are predominantly inbred and crossbred to achieve desired physical traits without regard of behavior. The poor breed has been so overbred and inbred that it resembles "uncle" Bubba from Alabama that your family doesn't recognize. Finally, they skew statistics because they are America's most popular breed, people fail to recognize them when attributing the fault of 60% of bite wounds.

You can train any dog to be mean. I have a full blood pit (kolby). Its all how you raise the dog. My dog is nice as can be but she is VERY protective of me and my bro and my girl. True, pits are easier to train to kill but its all in training. They do really get a bad rap.

Both of you are missing the main point. That statement is as false as they come. Pits, dogs, any animal you own has natural animal instincts at all times. Just like humans, animals can snap. Tamed animals are the worst because you don't expect them to. There is no amount of nice training or good dog training you can do to prevent an attack one day. You never know when their natural instinct will kick in.

I'm not saying this to argue and diss on Pits. I'm an animal lover. I just want people to realize that their dog can, at any moment, turn on them or anyone else. It happens on a daily basis. Just want you guys to be careful, that's all. Later, QD.

Not stereotyping hun.. I work for vets... Rockdale.. gwinnett...dekalb... none of them will adopt out pits... period and you if say they will you dont know what your talking about.. I have dug out a collar from a abused pit, put her leg back together and for what? She sat in our vet for 7 days... her owners wouldnt pay the bills.. so she was put to sleep... shit like that pisses me off..

Pitts was not breed for that. THey was breed for FIGHTING. Pitts are not household dogs. Yea they are cute and fun to play with when pups But when they hit that age they start to snap. U never know. Sure u can keep them in ur house But WHY???

You deal with Rotties? Good for you.. Im guessing your a breeder? I am a vet tech.. have been for 5 years dude...My last job I worked very close with the Conyers PD.. and their K9 units...I dont believe they have 1 Rottie on the force... nope infact all they have are purebred german shepards.. same goes for duluth...and dekalb (they also have 2 purebred black labs)..

I never once said that wasnt true... not once.. but I will say to ANY dog.. if you don know how to handle them or treat them.. they will turn.. I have seen plenty of labs and golden retrievers bite kids before too.. but you dont hear about it as much as pits because pits have become a media frenzy

Whats all the drama it started off as an opion with a suggestion! It didnt start off as ignorant, what you meant to say was nieve people maybe! But lack of knowledge naw cause the point was to strike up views from different folks on the suggestion of a clause to the no pitbull law. How can one be ignorant now; when many people's views have been express back up by some facts.
