Default Favorite way of moving around in unchartered areas?

My friends and I were goofing around the back roads near Pine Mtn the other day. While I was relying on my GPS to give me an idea of our location, my friends in the other car were using a map book and some printouts from Google/Y! maps 'cuz according to him, playing around with a GPS while driving is a lot more difficult. What do you guys think?

I'll just wing it more times than not. But if I'm truly lost (and planned ahead) I'll use a map. If I didn't plan, I'll just ask someone.

    Uncharted.

And I use an old school map or google maps if I need it but wandering is the best part of exploring new areas.
