Default Got another ticket, what do I do?

Alright, just recently I got another ticket (within 6-7 months of the last one) for speeding. Obiviously speeding isn't working out for me and I'm in some trouble. I'm under 18 and the tickets were 22 and 23 mph over so that means I have 6 points on my license. When your under 18 you can only have 4 point and then have your license suspended. It's pretty apparent that I screwed myself pretty good there, but does anyone have any ideas on what I can do? Can I plead nolo contendere even though I'm a minor? Will I need a lawyer? I don't know really anything about this stuff so any information or ideas will be greatly appreciated.

I'd get a lawyer, he can prob get it reduced, maybe even get you a ticket for a non moving violation to keep points down.

Yes, you can plead NOLO and no points will go on your license. The only thing about NOLO is that it can only be pled once every 5yrs (i think its 5)

I've got a radar detector if you are interested

yes, a minor can use it. I used it when I was a minor. I guess the judge can deny the plead if he wants to be a ****, but the way I see it, If they take your license away, they cant get more money from you for other moving violations you may commit. Thats what I came to determine when I was younger because I should have lost mine once or twice, but they worked around it and let me keep it.

I'd say the NO-LO thing will not work for you because this is your second offense and you are under 18 years old. If you won't pay the money to get a lawyer, best thing for you to do is take a Defensive Driving class.

You can use NO-LO but I think it will only work for one of your two tickets. But if you get the lawyer Im sure you can get the second speeding ticket kncoked down a little bit. That's IF the judge accepts the NO-LO plea.

I did the same thing back when I was only 17. Got 6 points in under 6 months. Each ticket was worth 3 points. Just paid the first one, thought nothing of it then I got a second. Did my research, talked to the solicitor at the court house, plead No-Lo and went on my way.

Later found out, via License Suspension letter in the mail, that the judge accepted my plea, I payed the fine, but under GA law it's still up the the DMV/DDS whether or no the points went on my license. Obviously they did, and I lost it for 6 months.

There is so much BS that goes on. Unless you're willing to shell out the money for some legal advice (or can get some free) don't worry. Six months goes by fast and if you have nice friends they'll give you a ride.

I thought you have to be 18 to be on the site? LOL Whatever, next time just don't speed. I got pulled over for a warning and I took that sht serious, I cruise at 5 over at the most to keep up with the pace. Not worth paying/losing my license to get somewhere 47 seconds faster.

Don't fight it. Plead guilty, and let them take your license from you for a few years while you grow up a bit.

If you plead nolo, it will still go on your record for insurance to see but you wont get any points. Go to your court date and talk to the solicitor. Tell him you screwed up and was wondering if there was anything you could do to keep your liscence(ie traffic school, community service, etc)

No, you CANNOT plea nolo yet. Best thing to do would be to hire a lawyer. You'll have your arraignment (sp?) court date and they will tell you what is going on. I recommend taking a defensive driving course because that will reduce the points on one of the tickets. The next thing you could try is to talk to the prosecutor and ask him to reduce one of them, but that is unlikely to happen.

    Good luck.

ive gone thru the same thing that your going thru. i got a 28 over when i was 16 before the next court date i got a dragracing ticket. i thought i was screwed, some how with out a lawyer i got off. i basicly pled not guily and then talked to the judge say that it is crutical for me to have my licence. it helps to have your parents there. ALOT. but so he let me keep it but i have probation for a year 32 hours of community serive and 20 hours of driving with my parents in the car. and then a 310 fine and then 200 for probation and then 20 a month for the prbation. i then got off that and being dumb agian i got a 36 over on 75/85 at 12:15 i was doing 91 in a 55. i went to court just recently for it and got it droped also. there is one more i have to go to court for and hopfuly im as lucky as i have been, the one thing is....dont do it on the road......
ive learned. i should have a while ago but i guess im too hard headed to learn. but i would prolly get a lawyer. you can prolly get in the tlc class. which drops it all. but you have to do alot of ****.

    This man speaks the truth.
A lawyer is going to cost you more than the tickets are going to. Suck it up and take the punishment for your foolish driving. Discipline, something most of todays youth doesnt have.
