It can be very annoying. A lot of stuff is different but its bearable.

I bought it when it came out, unloaded it 2 months later and put XP back on. I'll probably try it again in a lil bit... It needed some heavy work when I used it last though, bugs galore.

i have vista and think its awesome. No problems so far, runs fast and looks better then xp does. Its fast and so far reliable, i see no reason to downgrade to xp, theres really no new changes to make anything confusing

Its great for laptops in my opinion, rarely are people gaming on laptops hardcore, but for a desktop or a gaming machine I would def. stick with XP Pro.

very true. vista just eats to much of your system and bogs games down...i used vista for about 2 weeks and changed back to XP pro.

im a gaming person so thats the only reason why i changed back..other than that Vista looked better.

give it another year to work the bugs out and vista > xp

I recently aquired Windows Vista, and i like it, its a different fresh look, pretty neat. But i heard that it take alot of memory from the video card to make it look cool (corrrect me if im wrong...), which makes it slow. And i do agree its a tad slow than my old laptop with windows xp.

    "You should go to Vista."

    "So you like Vista?"

"Not really, no. I run a Vista simulator."

    "Virtual Server?" the Boss asks.

"Nah, I just turned on all the flashy crap in XP, changed the background image, took some memory out of my box and clocked down the CPU. Then broke Media player. Works like a charm."

    "So you don't like it?"

"No. But it has does have one advantage."

    "What's that?"

"It causes a clean reinstall of XP which is generally good from a defrag point of view."

"So you're not really suggesting I install Vista?"

You can always change that. Give it some time, it will be good or at least better. Most people who bash it are just jumping on a bandwagon.

don't like it that much at all, not much program compatible, slows your computer...to much to list.
    XP ftw for now.

    Vista Pro's
    - 64bit Vista supports 4gb+ memory
    - DX10 support
    - *some* drivers are optimized for Vista

    Vista Con's
    - absolute memory hog, even with bare minimum processes running
    - piss slow boot and shutdown times in comparison to XP with both OS's on the same hardware
    - more prone to random failures such as the infamous nv4disp.dll and nvlddmkm.sys errors
    - requires digital signature for all drivers
    - major compatability issues with Widcomm's bluetooth stack... meaning anything BT that's not integrated into your system from the manufacturer will most likely fail w/o hacked drivers
    - many new features can be problematic such as the Windows Boot Manager
    - tons of random problems associated with specific hardware... such as a certain windows update complete disables both of my onboard gigabit LAN's on my p5n32-e
    - overall slo0o0oo0ooo0o0ooower compared to XP

I speak from pure first-hand experience. If you plan on playing DX10 games with a DX10 card, you'll need Vista. Otherwise... I'd stick with XP.

Remember, XP Service Pack 3 is due out sometime in Q1 of next year. As well as SP1 for Vista, which was performance tested, and barely improved any.

I like Vista, but I dont really use it for any hardcore gaming because my video card cant handle hardcore gaming.

Right now XP Pro might be better, but then again you are comparing something that has been around for several years with a completely new product. If I remember correctly XP had more than its share of issues for the first couple of years i was out.

The IT pro's can correct me if I'm wrong, but isnt Vista much more secure than even the most updated versions of XP?
