Default 1982 SR5 Corolla Sport Coupe.

I've recently come into a new project - I pulled this 1982 Corolla out of a field in a small town near Memphis, TN. The owner said he hadn't really thought about selling it, didn't know if it ran... and it had been sitting for several years. After he finally came out with a price of $500, I counter offered with what was in my wallet and bought it for $200. It's got 113k original miles, bought it from the original owner.

I put a little clean gas in the carb, hooked up some jumper cables and she fired right up. I replaced the water pump, new tires, and a few odds and ends and have since put about 10,000 miles on it. 38mpg, RWD, and the 3TC motor is bullet proof. It's the perfect car.

    When I first bought it:

So far all I've done is cleaned the stock carb, removed all the emissions crap (PCV, EGR, Smog pump, and cleaned her up. I also carved a shift knob and sewed a plaid shift boot for it! Ha. I'm thinking I don't even want to paint it, keep it with the survivor look and throw so Watanabe Falcon Turbo's or Hoshino Impul G5's on it. I've got a pair of Makuni Sidedraft carbs I'm going to put on after the holidays when I have a project budget to work with again. If anybody knows where I can find some trim pieces for the outside that would be great too.

Engine bay is a little cleaner than this now, I'll try to get some new pictures:

    Thumbs up

Wow nice find... It looks nice as is.. It would look nice with a good set of wheels and a little low low.

I have a 78 SR5 Sport Coupe on the way in a few...

So I traded my quest for this car and he threw in some aftermarket parts to make up the difference. We both got a fair deal and both cars are in a good home. Both will still be seen regularly at old school meets.

I removed the park bench bumpers, relocated fog lights, and put on some new spark plug wires. Matt will be bringing me the rest of his parts soon and this will be continually updated... I also removed the muffler and added a turndown just after the rear axle.

    This is my inspiration....

The dishes??? Uh, you're my homie and all but no. But I know where some real sweet Western Cyclone wheels are f0 cheap. Only downside is they are a Corvette lug pattern. So adaptors would be a must.

The 'yota will be roaming the streets this spring. May or may not be on bags... Just gotta see how long this whole "not having a job" thing lasts.

Edit: Still have my job, but not sure how much longer. Already gave a 6 month notice, but somedays I feel like walking in and saying

Naw it has a nice factory flare on the fenders already. Just gonna fill up the wheel wells and lower it. I hate that stance shit as much as you bud. Hey Juan, you got an extra Weber laying around the dungeon you could hook me up with. I'm new to the carb'd Toyota game but already loving it!

These aren't pics of the ones that are for sale... But they pretty much look like this.

Fuck it. I like them. I'll buy them and throw them in garage for me later.

Rear bumper cover is off. Gonna cut it up tomm to shave it down from park bench status to something a tad more reasonable.

Shaved the rear bumper. It's no professional job, but it's not bad either. Especially since I really had no idea what I was doing haha!

    Started cutting:

Had to cut the bumper support to fit the newly shaped bumper cover:

Got in on after some trial and error:

I started looking at the piece of plastic I cut from the top of the bumper and I can't believe my eyes....it makes an awesome front lip. It's scary how well it's gonna fit. That will be my next update.
