    Default New '72 510 2dr

Just got my first dime today. I saw her on craigslist and immediately snatched her up asap! I was told that she has an p20 head bored over with Repco pistons heads, a 5sp from possibly a 280zx and a Weber carb. I was also told she sits on lowering springs, but I will have to take a look tomorrow to see what kind they are. Inside the service manual are detailed instructions and receipts which are really neat and add a lot of history to the car. I apologize for the amount of pictures! I hope to get her drivable soon and make it out to some of the meets

They're actually not that hard to find. They pop up all the time. I was looking for one when I got my Civic, but they always were just out of my price range.

OP, good pick up. Hopefully you'll get it on the road soon enough. Later, QD.

I saw it, pretty close to it but I let it pass, already have a Roadster and three 78 Civic CVCC and a 86 Civic SI, too many cars. It's a good buy for a grand.

    ^^ This

I see them from time to time, just kind of expensive down here since they're less common. Datsuns were imported on the west coast, so thats why everyone on the west coast drives 510s, and east coast has everything else.

A lot of 70's Japanese cars are that way. Not just 510's. Civics like mine are plentiful out there and you rarely see them here. Later, QD.

I'm going to keep it stock. I don't have the time, space, nor money to do a swap atm.

those stock hitachi carbs (like the one pictured) can bring some good money some times, also, if you aren't going to use that head in the trunk lemme know, I'd be glad to take it off your hands. Also if you need any help with anything let me know I'd be glad to help'

The one in the trunk? Probably a little 210 cast head.

On the car is an L20 U67 head. Nice step up from the little port stock 210 head.

I now need a radiator for this car hopefully this week. I have ordered a NOS one from eBay but it may or may not make it in time for me to go to the DATSUN meet at shorty howell park see (http://puregroove.org/forum/showthre...k-in-Duluth-GA). If any fellow Datsun owners have one laying around, I wouldn't mind buying one

    thanks

Long time since an update, but I got a lot of new oics. I desperately need a radiator now as the nos one I ordered did not fit. I picked up a Fiero rad. (black plastic sides) from the parts yard but I am not sure it will provide sufficient cooling for the l16. Also need to figure out how to bleed the damn clutch, bigger pita than expected.

So all, we got a brand new (not rebuilt) slave and napa master cylinder and full 240sx braided hard line. We are having problems during the bleeding process. We cannot seem to get a lot of fluid down to the slave cylinder. I tried forcing fluid down into the hose using a syringe until it poured out from the bleed valve onto the cement. Thought that was all good and still no luck. Something this simple is driving us nuts! Any kind of help or tutorial would be appreciated or way to find if the master is defective or not would help. I really want to make it out to the meet Monday and this is one of the last things I need to complete before I can drive her.

Close the bleed valve on the slave, pump the clutch pedal, have a helper open the bleed valve while you are holding the clutch to the floor. Close bleed valve, repeat until the fluid pumps out. Make sure the slave stays full with brake fluid.

If that doesn't work bench bleed the master, check the length of the rod that pushes the master that it is the right length. Return master to store for a different on. Check out rockauto.com for parts.

Fiero radiator should work fine. Some guys use the radiator out of a 92 Sentra. I've used VW rabbit radiator from 1980's.

I love these. I remember seeing one back in '03 or '04 in the SCC ultimate car challenge and being hooked. Defiantly on my list of cars to own. Good luck, I'd like to see it on the road sometime.
