Thread: My corona

Hybrid View

    Default My corona

Just picked this 1974 corona with a blown 18r-c. I had a spare Mazda reman 12a so we started swapping it in. I already got it mounted and the crossmember done. Mad a gas pedal from a 240 fit and gas cable from a rx-7. The drive shaft should be done sometime this week and hopefully i can find a clutch pedal that will fit it somewhere. Any ideas? Ill get more pics soon but heres some after i got it and one test fitting the 12a.

The body looks to be in good shape! Always liked the Coronas... Wouldn't have went with a rotary myself but to each his own! Any other plans besides the engine?

    Awesome as fuck car.

In an attempt to NOT offend you, I'll leave out my opinion of the engine. Later, QD.

Ha it's fine i plan to swap to another r series engine in the future but i had the reman 12a with less than 15k miles so im gonna use it for awhile. All stock mounting locations and hardware was left intact.

Man, I would flinch at anything above 14" wheels, but please don't put 16's on there, lolol. Later, QD.

This Is my 76 factory 5 speed car, I 12a'ed last year but did not finish it until a few weeks ago. I don't have any engine shots but its a 12a car as well. I just fitted a Racing Beat header tonight, and putting a single weber side draft on it tomorrow. You can use a TE72 throttle cable, and I use a pedal from the same car. Good Luck and cant wait to see another Corona on the road. They are my favorite!!!

Edit: I did not read that you had the pedal and cable done already, and you can probably use a clutch pedal and master from a TE72, They have the same vertical bolt pattern that coronas have

Damm you John, making me jealous that my old Corona looks soo good. Glad it went to the best home for Old School cars there is. Garage Zero baby!

@OP. Your car is hot. If you want some hot wheels for it, look up Eddie and check out the Toms that he has for sale. Those Toms and that silver Corona would look so far into the Babastic zone that the earch would shift on it's access and Global Warming could be stopped. You have the power!!!!!!

Yay I got it running today but not driveable I hooked up a 2nd gen rx7 coil for leading so it would have direct fire ignition then i used a accel coil for trailing. Started on first try when filling the bowls with gas. Now i gotta do a fuel pump setup and make the wiring pretty.
