i have been dreaming about NL's for about 2 years now. i found a rusted n320 {with separate bed/not as cool} once in atlanta , and he wanted like 1500. You will have to travel to get a good one. on the other hand, i cant even fit in my 620 pickup so really i need to just forget about it. the guys at ratsun.net have had some pretty cool ones, plus you can find tons of pics there. the most current project is dubbed "Melvin" it has a roadster engine and is getting the top chopped come next spring

the guy that owns this one has a very nice red one. here are a couple a lowrider i like to look at.

I like it except for the fart can and the Boyds wheels. To me billet looks out of place on anything pre-1980. A regular exhaust and some steelies and I'd be all over it.

Good luck one getting a 320. I have a 67 520 I am building. Finding parts for it are somewhat of a challenge. Right now I am trying to decide on a powertrain.

Buick/Olds 215 aluminum V8. The British bought the design from GM and put these into MGB's so I'm sure it will fit in the Datsun (Since the Datsun motor is basically a license-built copy of the MG 4 banger anyway).

I saw a Land Rover Disco at PAP with one of these in it last time I was there but the heads were gone. They are not hard to find at all.

Or you can go all mad tyte JDM Vtec Dorifto and put an SR20 in it.

A Chevy small block would be blasphemy, anything else is pretty much fair game in my opinion. The Buick/Olds 215 "fireball V8" shares nothing in common with the "tree fiddy" except that they were both made by GM.

Anything NOT Datsun or Nissan is blasphemy. This is coming from the eyes of a purist. Later, QD.

just a basic L16 is fine for these. ups the power and parts are much easier to find than the stock motors. but i like the r16 roadster engine swap, it has a more period correct feel and look to it. plus dual carbs. on of the guys on Ratsun just scored a 1959 sedan, talk about hard to find parts! this car has been preserved by the new mexico desert. if i ever get a nl320 or any really old japanese car its coming from the desert. no rust on this 59. original paint is still on the oil pan/valve cover/etc. seats/paint are baked but who cares.

roadster swap! well all you see is the hood, but the motor is under there too, cant find the pic.

I actually have one that I'm sitting on. It's a 1964 as well. Runs and all and the guy wants $500 for it. Just waiting on January. I've talked to the guy about what's up and he's cool with that. Later, QD.

I think a Buick V8 would be coolio in one. I'm a huge fan of offbeat engine swaps. If I kept mine, a Buick V8 would be top on my list for swaps if I were to swap it. I'm not much of a purist honestly.

an nl320? or just an old car in the desert?

on the buick swap, i have my wifes 92 regal 3.8 liter i cant seem to sell. they make an adaptor plate to make it rear drive and 5-speed. and i have a datsun truck.... 3.8 was a very popular swap in the 70/80's.
