    Default tons of points!

so if you know me, you know i'm a notoriously bad mechanic. i dont really know what points do, but i just bought a big bag full of them! i may be a bad mechanic but at least i am good at finding cool stuff. i know i have never seen Datsun on any sort of packaging, i really believe these parts are older than me by about 8 years or so.

besides points it came with a couple odd parts. funny thing is, i acually need this now for my truck. we where going to swap to a different alternator and everything to avoid replacing this. whenever i have the heart to tear the package this will be installed.

no pointless distributors for me! just swap'em out!
i think i might start selling these on jnc.com for like 10 dollers a pop, peaple might just want to collect them since they say datsun on them.

What Datsun motor do you have to swap the points on?

I have owned several vehicles with points and I am 100% against them. They require constant tinkering. I was always adjusting them, filing them down when they get pitted, checking and resetting timing, etc every 1k miles or so. I like the pointless distributors because most of them are more of a "set it and forget it" kind of deal.

And most old school import vehicles can have some sort of electronic ignition adapted to them if theres not a factory setup for that specific motor. I know the way to do it on the 1st. gen. Honda motors was to stack 2 distributor clamps to make up for the different length shaft between the EB and EM series motors.

i used the voltage regulator on my truck and the charging issue is fixed. lucky find for me, i guess my truck might as well get new points since i am driving it. time to read my haynes manual and figure out where they go.
