    Default My Datsun 620

Man, I thought I would of had it on the road by now. But such is life. I guess you would say I have Datsun Fever. The current stage that I am in right now is the weber carb may need to be rebuilt or there is some vacuum leak somewhere and finish the front brake drums. There is a spring clip that I am missing to hold the brake adjuster in the correct position and the front drums may be out of spec and aren't grabbing like they should. It does have some rust. there is a spot in the driver floor board that was semi patched and there is rust on the lower rockers. Mainly pinholes but I don't know 100% how much it has until you take it down to metal.

Well enough said here is the before picture:

    After 3" drop:

Next is the escalade wheels and hopefully figuring out what is up with the carbs. Typically as the car warmed up the choke would stay open but it isn't. Any ideas? Also it is funny when I stick the only air filter I have, on it,(its dirty) immediately it starts spitting out black smoke.
So I know I need an air filter.

I think short term will be a daily driver, long term will be a nice mini truck. Probably originally white. Bed is rusted white but not rusted through. I hope to get the caddy wheels and borrow someones router to bore them out.
It also has the center console and original buckets. They were recovered by the previous owner. Dash is cracked in a few spots. But for now I just want it to be road worthy.

i have a router, it's a big old one. i got it from my wife's grandpa when he passed away. your welcome to use it. i think mine was original bench, it had no console and un matching buckets. so what year is yours? did you say it had the L20? i'll guess 1978.

It's a 77' with all drums and L20. I thought the 78's came with discs up front.

Wheels mounted, what do you guys think? Definitely going to need some spacers and extended lugs to push these out to the fender.

Sorry for the crappy cell phone pics.

it looks really good on the wheels. looks like little guy likes his new truck! what are you thinking about the front hubs? i'd like to just grind mine down so i can run my center caps, but i dont know if that is safe or not.

I don't know much about it. I like it better without the caps.

I'm sure it would look better with a paint job. Wheels w/o center caps on that truck, look incomplete. I know you can't use the Cadillac center b/c its a flat cap. Nice truck though and nice wheels.

Man I feel like I have been cheated but no worries. Just found out this past weekend that my truck is actually a 76 with the L18, but it is funny that it had a 5 speed, oh well, I thought it was a 77' since that was the first year with the 5 speed. This says in 75, they had the l20b so it must of been swapped sometime in it's life:

I hope to bring the truck to the next meet. And I think I want to go flat black on the truck one day, but I want it to be nicely done.
