    Default My First Gen RX7

So I was checking out this Old School Section and thought I might post up my never ending money pit. I got this several months ago and love the car. The only problem is I cant drive it on the street... yet. QD informed about the meets so Im going to try to get it ready for the upcoming event but well see how it goes. Anyway these pics were taken the day that I picked it up and I havent seen it since. Its at my cousins house until i can get it down here.

    1985 Mazda RX7 GSL

Sorry no engine or interior pics. I didnt upload them and who knows where they are now.

    ITA FTW.

Any plans to race it? They are good regional IT cars

Not bad, I love it. Why did you decide ITA over IT7 out of curiosity? More competition?

I actually dont do SCCA yet. The guy that originally owned it in the early 90's travelled around do events. Actually most of the parts that are on it are different from the stickers and decals all over it... Right now I'm going through NASA's HPDE (Group 3) to get licensed but i do plan to do the ITA. IT7 is all but extinct from the events Ive watched but obviously its more even playing field with IT7. But Im gonna have to change the carb back to the original in order to run with SCCA and make some other modifications. In all honesty I'm not sure what all has been done to it. Im a little nervous to go digging around to much that I wont be able to get back the way it was lol. It has brake bias and brake ducts from the front air dam etc. that Im not real experienced with...

Anyway thanks for the looks and comments.

And simon is that Peugeot from the ALMS. That thing is bad.

Cool sounds good, HPDE is a good way to go. There are still a few IT7's out there, but not usually more then 5 at a Road Atlanta event it seems.

Peugeot just runs Sebring and Petit (not sure about this years Petit) for ALMS but yeah it's that car, mainly it runs the European Le Mans Series.

The car looks good. There's no such thing as a money pit.

i race an ITA miata, and a few weekends ago at the heart of dixie club race at nashville super speedway me and a green IT7 car were close toghether in front of the other spec miatas and other ITA cars, but behind the ITS z cars. so we had lots of room to play. anyways that IT7 car had a TON of power on me. lets say my 1.6 miata puts out around 115-120, which is more then our old Rx3 ITA car had with a large port 12a. that IT7 car would just kill me on the straights, it was a fast car. but i ended up catching him and passing him through the corners of course, but man it took me a while.

i went and talked to him after the race and he's from atlanta and had a sticker saying 2008 SAARC champion. and his motor probly has 130 to the wheels or so

Did he say what had been done to it to get that much. I was under the impression that the engines had to be stock i.e. no porting or anything of that nature with stock carburetor. Thats very interesting to hear. As you can see I dont know a whole lot about rotaries yet... still learning.
