    Default FC=Old School

According to the local rules its a year off the deadline, but IMHO these are graduating from middle school into old school any time now. 80's sports car dash and console, porno red interior, flares and angles on the body, factory 15's, etc etc etc.

Overall I think it would really depend on the direction that the owner decides to go with, but some FC's are OG material for sure. Im sure QD loves my old school ride

    Some good examples:

The white one is an S4, but I dont think S4/S5 matters as much as the overall look.

I like that one a lot also, usually bolt-on flares kill any car for me but they look OK, even with the skinny 16's.

S5 look better but are heavier, but they make little more power so guess it evens out.

i plan on having a T2 sitting next to my 3rd gen someday.

It's not. But it is a definite borderline car.

skillzilla, you don't have to care what I think. It won't make me change my mind. But when we have our meets and we'd like to have a few borderline folks attend, we'll be asking the folks that aren't assholes about it. If you don't like it, then start your own meets. You can start your own FC Met.
And lastly, don't bring your BS in here. First warning. Later, QD.

I was planning to check out the last OG meet but didnt end up making it, saw a lot of pics though and it looked like fun. OG isnt really my personal style (although I do really like the look), but this thread was more about FC's in general. I would consider them old school based on the direction the owner went, with my direction being forward not backward. I have seen a lot of FC's that fit the OG bill though, so I thought Id bring it up.

With that being said, dont hate, you know you love my ride

And to keep the thread going, OGasFuck FC I saw on a random lot in Cali:

The FC is not an old school Car, close to it but not yet. once you no longer have to do emissions on a car then i think it falls into the old school category.

The thing about the Fc is that it was made in the late 80s, the starting o fa new era and fighter-jet- like chiseled interiors. I don't think the 85 year cutoff is there because 1980s was a while ago, I think it's because cars like the FB, which are below that line, feel more like they're from the 70s. Everything is mechanical, no ECU, all tuning done with screws and wires, not with a chip and sensors. The interior has a flow without many interruptions due to the lack of technology. It isn't the matter of missing the deadline by one year that makes me think the FC doesn't fit in, it's in a whole different era of car styling and function. It was built to prepare for the late 80/early 90s, and because it was in a relatively high class,it was just a little early to the game, but different era none-the-less.

Not compleatly true, my 84 gsl-se classifies as an OS ride, and it was just as smooth, and reliable as my 89 gxl, right up untill i cut the prings and put the 2 1/2 inch exhaust, with the 3rd stage clutch, then it was rough, and i never had problems starting it either, even with the cold start assist removed, and emmission crap removed it never faild to start at the first turn of the key, even tho it was an 84, it came with electric windows and mirrors, electric antena, fuel injected 13b with big ass primaries only, and a ecu, u dont need to be carburated or hav a car that wont start to be OS, i loved my SE and it was my inspiration for my gxl, with it im aming towards an oldskool look with some new skool punch,
So for me, in my opinion my gxl is an OS ride just because the fc plataform is overlooked and people dont understand the potential of them in both styling and performance, but dats how i see it, but what do i know..

Soooooo, ChavaRX7 has a point, but everyone has their own point of view on how the FC Chassis is classified, but if it were up to most of us FC would fall into the OS category, simply because because of the chassis structure. Ask any RotorHead out there about what category they think the FC chassis falls under whether it be OS or NS (New Skool).. Lets see how many people say OS.. But then again, Glides has a point once that cars emissions is exempt, that's when it should be filed as OS..

But really this one is up in the air.. Its not OS yet, but at the same time its not near to NS.. So what should it fall under guys? We should have a poll for this one..

I always see the FD as the new school when it comes to rotaries. The simplicity of the interior in the FC just reminds me of the mid 80's. It also reminds me of a car that people actually looked forward to owning. Not a car that people would just settle for due to their budget. But the FB seems a lot more old school to me too. I'd like to own one of each.

But your 84 is the 1st gen body. The 86 body style started the FC series. Thus knocking it out of contention for complete OS-ness. The only thing really OS about the FC is it looks like a bigger version of the FB. Later, QD.
