Default My new B11 Sentra Wagon

Well, I threw a rod in the Altima, so I bought this new beauty with only 107,8xx miles on her. Shes an '86.

That's fucking badass. Some 4-spoke Revo wheels or panasports on that and a great drop and you've got a awesome ride.

You going to bring it to the OSJC meets? You should. Later, QD.

I'm planning on being at the March 7th meet. That blue wagon looks sicks. What stinks is that in 87 the wagon came with AWD.

I guess I may as well as make this the mini-build thread for this car. Added fender mirrors....

Yes QD, I am working on making it out to a meet. Someone should help me find a way to lower this thing. I was also thinking 175/50/13 tires would be a bit too small for this?

Honestly, and it might sound goofy. I'd just heat up the springs to where you want it. It's an old school car, going through the time and effort and money to locate springs is, in my opinion, a waste of time. My Corona has heated springs and it rides just fine.

So did you heat them up yourself or have a shop do it? How much did it lower your car?

Exactly what Glides said. Heating them will take you maybe a couple of hours tops. And only cost you $10. What part of town do you live?

Perfect size. Make sure your rims are at least 5" in width, though. Unless you have something after market.

No, QD, they look fine on yours because they're supposed to be there. They flow with the lines and came from the factory.
This car had side-view mirrors on the doors, and it's a very blocky, angular car, like most 80's cars were. The round fender mirrors look out of place on a car like that.
    That's all.

Let it be known that they are, in fact, NOT out of place as fender mirrors were placed on Japanese cars well into the 80s.

Xan, The car ONLY had a driver side mirror, it never came with a passenger mirror from factory. I have a nice little Nissan plate where it would go. Though when I did put them on, they did look funny to me for a minute. It also only has lap belts in the back.

QD,I live in Cumming and spend a lot of time in Gwinnett. Okay, July 4th. I'll write it on my arm with sharpie every day to remind me.

Folks ride from all over to our meets. That's we have them all over town, so it's not a short jaunt for some folks every time. It's in Conyers this time because we're in the festival. But seriously, come on out. It's a family affair as well. Later, QD.

Dave over at Garage Zero did it. I think it literally took 15 minutes. Took longer to drag the torches out and get through the tall tale telling than it did to do the springs

I'm perfectly happy. Though we didn't slam it either, so half the springs were heated basically. It still has the same ride, dropped it about 2 inches. We had the car on the ground and just heated it to fit. Was coolio.

The tires that are on there now are 175/80 and they are way too beefy. I was just hoping a 50 size tire would not leave too much fender gap, or make the wheel look too small.

Yeah, I have really taken that into consideration. I have to pick up my bumper from my buddie's house, paint it, then I was going to see how it looks. People are throwing the N13 Pulsar bumpers on these too and they look fairly clean.

Make sure ther car are Japanese and OS, if they plan on bringing them. Unless they're parking outside the festival.

If you have $10, you can do it yourself in your own driveway. You don't even have to remove the wheels. In fact, in order to do it, you can't remove them. All you do is turn your wheel left or right to get the better angle. I'll show you later with drawing on technique when you're ready to do it. The reason why GZ did it so quick is because they have the big boy torch. The $10 gets you a small, personal torch from the hardware store/Wal Mart.

As for the bumpers, I'd leave them both on. Car looks cleaner that way. Later, QD.

Altima Charlie, I really want to drop a VQ in my Altima, it sounds like thats the hot swap right now. So how does the new engine run? You got the extra 5 ponies?[/QUOTE]
It seems to pull really hard. I didn't put any of my performance parts back on, headers didn't fit anymore. It isn't perfect yet, the fans aren't coming on and the temp gauge isn't working. It is great to drive it again. I'd love to see the VQ swap done. I bought my motor from a guy trying it but he never finished. A 2k1 alty ka would run that sentra pretty hard! What is the motor code for your new car? Was there a diesal model like yours?

The motor is a GA16E believe it or not, and yes there was a diesel option in the States. I plan on keeping the car carb'd, but if I was going to but another motor in, it'd be a VVL. So wait, nobody has yet to finish the VQ swap?

New Pics! Put the bumper back on and forgot how hideous it fit and looks. Had to do some ghetto rigging to get it to stay on, which is another reason for the horrible fitment. Also had to zip it up.

    And the ghettoness.....

i dont know if you used to get on the altima board back when they where cool, but a guy that called himself Red-Lion {who everybody thought was a altima god} tried the swap. i believe he scraped the project. that was the only one i ever heard of. there was some sucessfull sr20det swap on there , but they were real high doller jobs. i am sure someone has finished the VQ but not that have seen.
anyway we should be talking sentras instead of altimas, i like the bumper on much better, can you fix the downward tilt i think it would look fine. bumpers drive me crazy when it comes to old school jap cars. never know what to do with them. had my car completly bumperless for a day or 2 but i had to put the rear one back on. just looked funny.

Yeah I remember his thread. It was the thread that really got me thinking about putting a VQ in the Alty.

I can't help the tilt, where it bolts to the inner fender wall is warped and fubar-ed, which is why I have that U-Clamp in the bumper hole and then in some other random hole to keep it in place. I believe I'm going to try and find a N13 Pulsar bumper and fit it on there once I get some extra cash.

    Revival of the old thread!!!!!

I was really bored today and had some paint laying around.... so I painted my hood.

I'm so ricey, I know. The garbage can in the background was my inspiration. The paint makes the hail damage more noticible One of these days I'm going to take this bad girl to Garage Zero so she will sit low.
