Default Cash a Cashier's Check on Sat. ???

I have a guy coming up from Savannah to buy a car for $10,000 and he just got the cashier's check this morning. He should be here by 6pm.

Does anyone know where we can cash this cashier's check so late on a Saturday??? I want to make shure the cash is in hand today, so he can leave with the car and not have to make another trip next weekend.

    Thanks a bunch!

sorry but most places put a hold on the check for a few days to make sure it clears. Maybe he can go to the bank that made the cashier check and see if he can cash it out. Then he he can a electronic tranfer of funds, or give u 10k cash

From what I was told, it is an army bank in Texas. There are probably no branches around here. I wish Wachovia was open till 6pm somewhere today.

Whatever you do dont accept the cashier check. Back when I bought the mr2 down in florida, I came with a cashier check. That check wouldnt clear for anything b/c the check was made with my credit union. The guy kept my check and I drove back to ga with the mr2. But he couldnt cash that check for 3 weeks, so he finally sent me the check back and I tranfer funds electronical to his account. But if I really wanted to, I could have kept the money and the car.

Nowadays with so much Fraud and high quality printer. No one even trusts a cashier check or money order any more.... Your best best is to give him the car but keep the title. Until the money clears, you can send him the title. Give him a bill of sale that is notarized.

Even with Wachovia being open or whatever you bank with. They still have to wait for couple of days before the money is transfer.
