    Default 'Explosive device' found in Midtown tower

    A Midtown office tower was evacuated briefly late Monday morning when a suspicious package was found on an upper floor. Occupants of the Proscenium building at Peachtree and 14th streets

    were allowed to return about 12:30.



    The package turned out to be a prop used by one of the advertising agencies in the building, according to Atlanta police Sgt. Kevin Iosty.

    The package contained eight cylinders wrapped in red with the word "dynamite" printed in black on the side of each. The sticks were wrapped in tape and attached to a timer.

    Iosty did not identify the advertising agency or say how the prop ended up in a vacant offfice on the 22nd floor of the 24-story building.

    Last Thursday, the building was evacuated by a fire on the same floor.

    Police Chief Richard Pennington said a maintenance worker found what appeared to be an "explosive device" about 10 a.m.

    Pennington said a bomb squad robot that was sent into the building had retrieved the device. The building houses numerous law offices, as well as restaurants and other businesses.

    Traffic in the area was also impacted, as Peachtree was shut down at 14th during the lunch hour.

    Wow. I was curious as to what all that was about. I was talking to my ex today and he had mentioned that the building had been evacuated for a bomb threat. Sad what some people will do as a prank.

    Anyway, he worked at Colony Square at 10th and Peachtree.
