Default New Porsche 997TT pics v. special invite

It was on the downlow, but I got invited to view the new 997TT yesterday. I showed up a bit late, so I didn't get to join the initial festivities. It was a secret party so to speak as the car can't be "officially" shown until Saturday when it is officially announced. Once the party was over, they took it out of the showroom (as I was there) and hid it in the garage.

My thoughts: It is nice, very nice. It's also bigger, or it at least *looks* bigger in person given the lines and design. The wheels are a bit of a letdown, however. They are two-toned, but I dunno... 19" wheels stock are still a plus. This one was priced at around $133,000. It has the PCCB brakes ($8500) and the Sport Chrono torque boost ($1600) plus a few more options. Not too bad, considering. The turn signal LEDs were a nice touch as well. I am still trying to figure out how I feel about the rear exhaust. I listened to it when they cranked it up and it definitely needs a "louder" exhaust. It was just too tame. I understand why it is like that, but still...

Overall, I like it, but I am not "dying" to get one right away if that makes sense. Perhaps in a few years when they get out into the used market, but for now I'd suggest sitting back and seeing how they do in the market over time. I have learned my lesson on how much they depreciate... They have 996TTs for sale now, with 10-20k miles for high $60k's - low $70k's. That's half price if not more! The sales guy said that they would make 5000 over a 3 year run. We'll see if that holds up. If so, then there will be plenty on the used market in 4-5 years for $70-80k, if that.

Already a modded one with 20's, looks good, but I think 20s are a bit to big, 19's are perfect for that car.

ha! you like the round or square headlights on jeep wranglers? Same thing, thought the square ones were ridiculous. Then I despised Porsche for putting the Boxster headlights on the 996...in my opinion the 993 front was far better looking and i'm they went back to that style.

the 997 lights just look outdated to me. The 996 is more modern and with times...

those style lights defintly look better, and more orginal....

I think the most interesting option is the Sport Chrono torque boost. 50+ lb of tq for 10 seconds when you press the button. Its like a nos button of sorts.

the round headlights have always been something of a porsche trademark design cue. why they ditched them on the 996 always confused me but i like that they went back with that .
