    It sounds like you will have a lot more luck in court than you will with directly dealing with police. They care far less about those kind of situations, if they have the opprotunity to bust you because of technicalities they will, but an intelligent judge should be able to have a more general understanding about how the whole system in Cali works. You should at least be able to get some leniancy if your lawyer is good.
