    A car crashed into a storage building at the Sears store at Northlake Mall Monday morning, DeKalb County fire officials said.

    A man crashed into the Sears at Northlake Mall.


    DeKalb Fire Capt. Eric Jackson said a male driving a 2008 Infiniti G37 crashed into the building around 8:30 a.m. The driver, whose age and identity were not immediately available, was trapped in the wreckage. Fire personnel used a Jaws of Life device to free the trapped driver, Jackson said.

    The driver was conscious when freed and was taken to a local hospital, Jackson said.

    Jackson said the car entered the building from the parking lot on the southeast side of the building. Jackson said he had no information yet on how the accident occurred. No one inside the building was injured and there were no pedestrians in the area, Jackson said.

    DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. -- A car plowed through a wall in a Sears store at Northlake Mall early Monday morning.

    Dekalb County Fire Spokesperson Capt. Eric Jackson says the accident happened shortly after 8 a.m. Monday.

    The driver was operating a blue Infiniti when it went out of control and crashed through a storage building of the Sears at Northlake Mall. Firefighters had to use the Jaws Of Life to free the driver who was later transported to an area hospital.

    The accident is under investigation at this time but according to Dekalb County Police, they are looking to see if the driver may have suffered a medical condition that was a contributor to the crash.

    There were no other injuries.
