Most people posting responses are not taking into consideration the actual addiction. The promiscuity level of an individual is totally different than actually being addicted to sexual intercourse. There most certainly is a double standard for how many people someone of different gender's has sex with, however, sex addiction can not really be held to a double standard because of underlying emotional problems and memory suppression, which are associated with sex addiction. This is equivalent to there being a double standard in alcoholism between genders, which is ridiculous.
