    Default Quick Question

Alright guys and gals. If you are driving down the street at about 50 MPH and hit a dog or cat would you stop?

Today our fraternity's dog was run over on Glenwood Ave. right outside our house and the driver kept going. It makes me realize that this world really is full of assholes.

I agree 100%, I would stop and do everything in my power to help the animal. I hate seeing animals abused, homeless and hurt.

I always stop for animals (even squirrels lol). If I can't stop I swirve around them. I 've seen a dog hit by a car in front of me and I just screamed! I literally cried the whole way home because no one stoped and I couldn't stop to help it. Everyone just kept riding by. That could have been someone's pet.

I'm really sorry for you loss. I could never imagine what it would be like to lose your pet. My dog is literally my child. She means EVERYTHING to me. Everything will be ok

I wish this guy would have stopped. He killed the dog, we had to bury him in the back yard, it's extremely upsetting.

i never stop when i hit animals

it just creates an awkward situation and usually the people are mad at you and yelling very irrationally when all i was doing is driving down the road like my car was intended for

honestly id rather be "that asshole that drove away" than "then the fucking idiot offered to help us bury it said his name was jeff"

I would stop and find out who the owner is.....

....then file a claim on their insurance to fix my car

(don't worry... i'll try and help the dog too, of course......)

No I'm not judging anyone by what they are saying I'm just curious to see how many people would stop.

I don't mean to be rude, but why was your dog in the road and not on a leash? Sounds like somebody watching the dog screwed up big time and it cost the dog it's life.

What was the driver suppose to do after hitting the dog? Take a tongue lashing for driving on a public road and hitting an animal?

It sucks, but it happens. I hate to be so harsh, but next time keep it on a leash.

The dogs that get hit the most are the car chasing tire biters. Sooner or later, the tire bites back.

It's not rude I get what you're saying. We wouldn't give the guy a tongue lashing, we aren't like that but it is courteous to stop. I'm not sure why he went across the road. He was pretty smart, always came back home and such.

    10 mph, yes

50 mph, no because I don't care to argue with the person as to why their animal was in the road where only motorized vehicles/bicycles belong. <<< I only put bicycles because they cry if you don't include them too, lol.

at 50+ mph i wouldnt stop because the dog would be dead. if I were going slower and i thought i could help the dog i might stop. dogs should be on a leash or in a fence at all times

The dog would be dead yes, I'd still stop, I would look around to see if someone knew the dog, man up, and tell the owner what happened. At least move the dead dog out of the road.

That's just what I would do.

Yea this man didn't do that. We had to go pick the dog up and carry him to the backyard. We also washed the little bit of blood off of the street.

Anthony, I'm assuming you have a dog because of that picture. Let's say that your dog has rushed away from you and gets hit by a car. Would you not want the person who hit the dog to at least stop and man up to what he/she had done?

I have one personal and 6 my parents own + others that have passed.

You didn't answer my question though. Why are THEY the asshole b/c your dog ran out? That makes zero sense. You should of had control over your animal. Domestic animals rely on humans b/c they are far too stupid to protect themselves.

Your first post said some1 hit them then in your reply to me you said the dog rushed away from you. Meaning you were right there. Why did you not have control of your animal?

I am not saying I would not stop. I have before for a dog that my ex ran over. I just don't like you logic that THEY are the asshole b/c they hit something that shouldn't have been in the road. What if he was rushing his son/daughter to the hospital? Would you still call them an asshole?

I would stop no matter what, I have two dogs and I wouldnt want to find out that someone hit my dog and didnt do anything to help and just drove away. Im a animal lover and i dislike people who dont stop, my sister witnessed someone runover a dog in our neighborhood and the speedlimit is only 25. I would see what I can do to help the dog not just drive off like nothing happend.

No I set up a hypothetical situation for you, read it again and get back to me. I'm not mad at the person for hitting the dog, it's just the fact that they didn't stop at all or even slow down. I mean it is a living creature. And with the hospital comment he was heading away from any hospital that was close so that is out of the question.

I know how you feel. Unfortunately the same thing happened to me a few years ago. My family's dachshund was run over and the person responsible never stopped. She drug herself 25 yards back to my grandmother's porch with a broken jaw, ruptured internal organs and extensive internal bleeding, 2 back legs broken, and a broken back. I have no idea how she managed to drag herself that far. Even though it was an accident, the person responsible should have just stopped and dealt with the situation.

Well if he had in fact been going to the hospital it would be different, but in this case there was one person in the car the driver. In my original post the dog was just across the street so I don't get where you are seeing he rushed away from me, he wasn't with me I was in the driveway, he was supposed to be with another one of the 20+ guys that were outside.

You truly are being a complete moron. I am not changing HIS reason into mine. I am asking why is the driver an asshole for some1 not taking care of their animal. If My dog got loose b/c of me or some1 else and got hit, I would not be mad at the driver for any reason. My dog is my daughter and I protect her in every which way I can b/c she is too dumb to know any better.
