I began a training routine that included walking/running 6 days a week, spin (bike) class 3 days a week, and swimming 2 days a week. I changed my calories consumed to 2000 (previously ~3500-4000) and broke everything down into Carbs (40%), Proteins(40%) and Fats (20%). I focused on my goal of running the Boston Marathon, a dream I have had since my father ran it in 1968 when I was 7 years old. To keep me further motivated I concentrated on raising money for my 9 year old niece Julia who has Cystic Fibrosis and the possibility that the money that I will be raising will help find a cure for disease before she dies and very early death.
Date: April 7th
Weight: 163.6 pounds
Distance I could run nonstop: 21 miles
Pants waist size: 32 inches
T-Shirt Size: M
Age: 47
I have been heavy my ENTIRE life and weighed over 300 pounds a little over a year ago (Jan 2008). I have never exercised more than 10 minutes and have NEVER run or walked as a form of exercise because frankly I hated walking and running.
It is my hope that other people will see this and realize that they can change their life and attain their goals if they just put their mind to it. People ask me if I feel better because I have lost all of this weight and I answer "Yes I do, both physically AND mentally". Life is good.
