Default Man slaps 2 year old at Stone Mountain Wal-Mart...

Complete stranger, to top it all off:

STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. (Sept. 2) - Police say a 61-year-old man annoyed with a crying 2-year-old girl at a suburban Atlanta Walmart slapped the child several times after warning the toddler's mother to keep her quiet.
A police report says after the stranger hit the girl at least four times, he said: "See, I told you I would shut her up."

Roger Stephens of Stone Mountain is charged with felony cruelty to children. It was unclear if he had an attorney and a telephone call to his home Wednesday was unanswered.

Authorities say the girl and her mother were shopping Monday when the toddler began crying. The police report says Stephens approached the mother and said, "If you don't shut that baby up, I will shut her up for you."
Authorities say Stephens then grabbed the 2-year-old and slapped her. The child began screaming and Stephens was arrested. Police say an examination showed the girl's face was slightly red.

A call to the girl's mother, identified in the police report as Sonya Mathews of Grayson, was answered by a woman who identified herself as Sabrina Mathis, the victim's aunt.
Mathis said Wednesday that the girl is doing fine.
"As of today, she has really forgotten about it," Mathis said. "She's been playing."
Mathis said the girl's mother was shaken up over the incident.
"She's as well as to be expected," Mathis said. "Right now she's just trying to calm down."

Holy shit at that. Later, QD.

That's what I'm saying. I would never do it, but I have sure imagined myself doing it on occasion.

    You have a nephew, right?
I would expect that you, having been around him, would know that
babies are unpredictable and they cry because that's one of the things that babies do.

Pull your reigns. LOLZ! I love kids and I volunteer often, but I am so not ready for kids. I babysat my nephew for 48 hours not too long ago. It was HELL and heis a good baby. It was just a lot of work. I am not down with what this man did AT ALL. Maybe I was being too light heart forgetting some of you would get upset. The real life situation is HORRIFIC and he deserves whatever he gets. I was just making a joke. Wrong time. My apologies.

I guarantee you wouldn't have done that at all. In fact, you probably would have just said something (to yourself or friend) about it and moved on off.

All these people on here saying what they would have done as if they really would have. Later, QD.

    TRUE!

To you people saying you would of smacked the kid cuz it was crying would be a stupid thing to do. Kids cry it's very common and you dont need to smack them in the face because of it. Their are other ways to treat obedience than to smack a kid in the head... wow lol some people.

I wouldn;t have to touch you if you hit any of my 3. My girlfriend would probably slit your throat.

Kids are hard to manage sometimes, but most people don't have the ability to just leave their kids at home. Like someone else said, Walmart is a pretty significant place. I'm sure you can find somewhere else in the store to shop. Not to mention, how long do you have to deal with it. You usually wait in line longer than you actually look for anything.

this is wal mart we are talking about i have seen stuff similar to this done before. what if your wanting to shop RIGHT THERE? you shouldn't have to move just because some kid is misbehaving. lol but srsly some of you take the comments in this thread a little to seriously.

And I shouldn;t move my kid just because you have no patience. I want to be there with my child even less than you want us there. Trust me, there is nothing fun about carting a carrier, diaper bag and toys around walmart, having to stop what you are doing to find a place to change a diaper. I won't be in your way for long.

I would have gotton a nurf gun and started shooting the kid instead. It would have released some stress. Or take one of those nurf footballs with the whistlen things on it and peg the kid in the head.

Nurf football would be funny. At first you just hear an annoying kid crying and crying. As you hear the kid crying you also start to hear a whistling noise. The whistling noise gets loader as it comes closer. Then thump, followed by silence. lol

That doesn't suprised me. I've been to Wal-Mart tripping late at night a few times, and that place is always good for a laugh, every fucking time.

see.. personally with me. it wouldnt have happened with my little one cause they would know better.. im not affraid to spank my kid. (not beat the hell out of) but spank! i see all these people out there that when there kids all act up they get all upset but dont do shit about it and there kids act on until they get what they want.. but i was raised completely different! if i acted up i got my ass tore up! and thats how imma treat my kids. my nieces aunt let her have whatever she wanted and my sister let it go on and now my niece is a bitch.. shes constently lying to my sister and everyone and acts like she should get whatever she wants now.. i just wanna pick her ass up and put her overy my knee and set her straight!

If the parent wasn't going to do anything somebody had to. I remember a day when if i didn't shut the fuck up or obey my parents it was time for the belt or worse. Nowadays you see kids on leashes, cussing out their parents, throwing tantrums in stores while the parent does nothing. Society is going down hill and its partly to due with lazy ass parents.

A stranger has no right to intervene in the disciplining of another person's child(ren).

2 year old's cry for any number of reasons...The child might have been sick...hungry...cranky...

You can't force a baby to stfu. It would be a completely different story if the child was older and was throwing a tantrum and quite frankly, based on the little amount of info given on this story, there's no way to conclude that the little girl was misbehaving but even then, it would still not be right to put one's hands on a stranger's child.

It's so fucking easy to be a "parent" when you're not actually one.

Beautifully put. Luckily, we have our 3 on lockdown. they know that "look" and they know that if they have to be escorted to the car or bathroom, they may not be able to sit down. But until you actually deal with the burden of trying to figure out why an infant cries and fix the problem, or deal with whiny toddlers, don;t bitch. As annoying as it is. have some campassion for the parent who probably deals with it a lot more
I'm just that guy that spends all his time printing.... T-shirts, banners, vinyl, etc.

Ok well i didn't read the article so i didn't know the kid was 2, my bad. And i never said it was easy being a parent, i don't know how you insinuated that from what i wrote. But i was speaking generally of kid's in today's society, just look at crime rates over the last few years around ATL which i think is partly due to parenting

    • In East Lake and part of Kirkwood, violent crime jumped 53 percent.
    • Robberies went up in four beats and made a 71 percent jump from 2007 to 2008 in the East Lake/Kirkwood area. (Atlanta police point to the explosion of two crimes; burglars kicking in doors to get to flat-screen televisions and thieves swiping GPS units from cars.)
    • East Atlanta has been hit the hardest. Since 2006, home burglaries ballooned by 147 percent. Other thefts, classified as larcenies, jumped by 87 percent.

In our little southside neighborhood of Ormewood Park, between 2007 and 2008, burglaries nearly doubled, 67 burglaries in 2007 and 125 in 2008.

I agree that, when speaking of kids in general, bad behavior is a big issue.
Bad behavior that transalates into kids doing illegal shit is even bigger of an issue.

I believe that is partly due to parents not being allowed to parent their kids the way we were raised.
Talks and timeouts are great and all but ass whoopings are more effective.

All this new school psycho babble shit people listen and subscribe to is why kids behave the way they do these days. They have no real consequences to suffer until it's too late, i.e jail, death, etc.
