    Default Good local internet provider?

We've been with Charter for awhile and it was alright - till they installed a new router.

Oh yeah, turns out they want to charge us per PC using the internet. Um, fuck no. I'll pay for the tube to the modem, but whatever is connected to my router is none of your fucking business, and you shouldn't be able to dictate and charge extra for that.

Which leads me to think the new router/modem has ports blocking and closing off to make sure no added pc's that aren't being paid for can be online for too long at a time

So, anyone know of a good local provider?

^^^ Really? I have no problems with my at&t dsl. I preferred my old comcast but not allowed to get it due to lame ass provider in my apartments.

Depends on where you live, if you live in a heavly populated area I would say go with at&t b/c you experience better speeds when your area is in heavy use

    att/bellsouth is horrible.
go with comcast cable if you can.

I have had bellsouth DSL for the last 4 or 5 years. Speeds are slowing.
Every single day from 8pm to about 11pm my latency goes up about 100ms for no reason at all. And they wont do shit about it. I have run numerous test and it all comes down to the service provider. 5 different PC's and same thing.

everything loads slow as shit and online gaming is impossible. replaced my router and everything.

If I wasn't moving in a few months I would of switched to comcast a while ago.
