    Default Cross country drive anyone?

I'm leaving the 15th to fly out to Seattle, Washington to drive a new Ford E-350 (fully loaded) back to Atlanta. I'm taking someone with me for the drive also. Will have cell, GPS, laptop for music etc. Not real worried about the van breaking down or anything like that but is there anything I need to prepare or be ready for other than the physical driving on a drive like this? I have always wanted to drive across the country and now I'm getting paid to do it.

all i know is you will have fun man..
like 3 years ago i left cali and came here..i drove my prelude all the way by myself..lol my bro was following me in his car..
theres gunna be a lot of cool stuff along the way for sure and we just drove slept and ate..lol
but def a fun drive. it became a little boring at times though but you shouldnt have that problem since you will have someone in the van with you.
i think overall it took us 2 and a half or 3 days..
good luck and enjoy it man

I just did the 1st week of March. Nor Cal to New Orleans. You will be going a completely different route then me but I would recommend looking at what you'll be doing along the way and possibly changing your planned route. Make stops and cool stops at that...

We stayed at a beautiful vintage hotel in down town San Fransisco, had brunch, lunch and dinner down town and bought some souvenirs and took some great pics. Always a great city to spend the day in..
Next we headed down to L.A (about 6hrs away) and stayed at a hotel right in Beverley Hills. We visited some friends, hung out in Sana Monica, did the whole Rodeo/shopping thing and spent to much money going out and and eating. I will go back...
After that we took 10E all the way to New Orleans. We stopped in Scottsdale to visit some family and that was fun but other than that it's a long a boring road.....We saw about 100,000 cows all together in New Mexico but that was about it...

As far as driving, if you choose to go the route I did, make a plan to drive across 10E in Texas at day time. The speed limit is 80 in the day and 65 at night and apparently the state troopers like to come out at night.. We had a X50 Passport and some binoculars and we hauled some serious ass, 95-110 the entire time and we were typically with a pack of cars doing the same. I even passed a cop using Ka at about 94 and he did nothing. In 1600 miles of driving in 19hrs we saw 3 highway cops looking for speeders and two were in small towns and one was a state patrol men just cruising down the highway. BE CAREFUL WHEN THE SPEED LIMIT DROPS and when you see po-dunk towns!

I am interested in this as well, we are planning a cross-country trip next year, but for fun. We are planning on driving from charlotte to LA and then back. I know it will be rough but it is something I have always wanted to do.

Falling asleep at the wheel is a big issue on cross-country trips. Make sure that you are speed-balling.

I always take a cb radio on cross country trips. The truckers always let you know where the cops are.

Advice, manage your money.. I lost control and spent all my money and my credit card at the time had only $500 limit(Student visa). I ran out of money in Texas, I only had $20 left to get me back to Atlanta. Shevenport was on the way so I played hold em and went all in my first hand. I tripled up and dipped out, lol.

Its fun though, just be responsible.

Company funded trip, not a big issue there. Just need my money for play time along the way if any.
