Other series see last second rule changes. That's why racing with a more open rulebook is amazing, you see team A with a totally different car, keep right at team B with another totally different car.

I agree though, NASCAR is all about dat good ol' close dad gum racin and crashin-n-shit. Making rules where you have to be smart to design a car would obviously ruin a series when half the people didn't graduate high school.

That would be the whole point... evolution. As the teams adapt, the rules change. There is always something NASCAR can restrict. Look at ALMS/LeMans/WRC and the many other series that have Fuel Injection (FI can be confused with forced induction too easily) and boosted engines.. and there are just as many restrictions ot keep them in line with eachother. I don't see much difference on cost really... think of how much is spent on those carbs and intake manifolds right now. A lot. Also, with the use of computerized fuel injection, it would actually be rather easy for officials to datalog the cars and find out who is doing what.

I see what you're saying and I do agree. That's just not how the racing is though. They like it the older style and don't want to evolve. Whether that's dumb or not doesn't matter, it's just how they do it. They don't want to kick the guys out who can barely run right now anyway. But the price of the computers and the testing and redesign would be incredibly expensive overall.

It would be expensive, and I really don't see it happening. There really isn't much of a reason to, it's not like the series is losing spectators or people getting bored of it. NASCAR is only about close racing. They don't care about it from a technical standpoint. Having a change that large in NASCAR I would think would really make fans mad.

I say NASCAR makes a separate series for more technologically advanced vehicles based on street cars to a POINT. As in maybe allow tube frames, RWD conversions, but the body work has to be the exact dimensions as the street vehicle, like Grand Am. Then make them run on road courses only, and have it like a V8 Super Touring Car thing, that'd be cool lol.

It is why Trans Am, Can Am, IMSA, and most other series have gone under.

It is a marvel that ALMS has lasted ten years.


To add, look at rallying. We have good drivers and they are better known for Youtube videos, tv shows where they jump tricyles, and drifting. :rolleyes:

Most people don't even know that the U.S. Olympus rally was a round of the WRC in the 1980's for 3 years. Yes, that was during the group B era.

True, Grand Am is doing fairly well though, but not on a scale as NASCAR.

Also true about the rally guys, it makes me lol, "Yeah brah Rhys Millen is a drifter" or Block. No clue on where they came from.

Nascar Camry
Engine: OHV 5.9L (ish) V8 with a Carb
Trans: 4 speed Manual
Drivetrain: RWD
Chassis: Tube

That there has always been my issue with modern Nascar.

Its not what it says it is.

I really would rather have it done like a true spec series where everyone runs the same thing and just call it a Nascar. Not a Camry, or Fusion, or Avenger.

Its a Nascar. Some tubes with a cage made by RCR.

I'm not making fun. I really want to know how a Nascar fan sees it.

I see many NASCAR fans like Brick Tamland from Anchorman.. they just yell at loud noises..and they don't know why. Or kinda like the general population of people in Idiocracy.

The NASCAR acronym is quite the redundant oxymoron though.. it's actually funny.

Figured this might help explain why there are those of us that like F1 as much as we do.

It's just a short film but man it leaves an impression. Don't have to be a racing fan to enjoy it. :goodjob:
