As some of you know, I manage a Sprint Store.

About once a week or so, I have someone come in looking for a job. That's understandable, I'm not hiring, but I don't mind keeping resumes on file. Here recently though, I have seen an increase in people coming in dressed in:

Sweat pants
Ripped Jeans
T-shirts
Un Shaven
Bracelets
Tennis Shoes
Flip Flops

and even worse, reeking of cigarette smoke.

Now, I have nothing against smokers. But at some point, did no one ever tell you not to smell like smoke.

I just had a guy walk out of here in his torn designer jeans, nike shox and a short sleeve t-shirt with a hoodie, smelling like a 3 day old ashtray after asking for a job. I almost choked on the stench of the smoke, and I was just astounded at the courage.

Can anyone explain this to me, why if you really needed a job, why you wouldn't dress professionally and maybe not smoke a cigarette right before you walked in to ask for a job.

Does anyone think this is acceptable. Would you hire anyone who did this?
