Red face GT-R to be unveilled at TMS

Nissan has announced that they will be unveilling the next generation GTR at the upcoming Tokyo Motor Show this October. I'm all over the new Z06 but I'm interested as to what this new Nissan will bring to the table. Anyone else been wondering what it'd look like?

If that was the GTR I'd just get out cars for 6 months.

i personally don't care for it...the spoiler didn't flow the front buper sat much much lower than the sides and rear and overall it looked just like a stock g35 coupe....oh well maybe they will have changed the actual production version

Most places i read were saying that the g35 body was just a test mule/shell for the powertrain, and that its not actually going to resemble a g35c.

hmmmm well i guess we'll find out...but the thing that confuses me is i have heard they were going to run it under the infiniti name but yet there it is saying nissan....so are they saying nissan because it will actually be released in the states as a nissan or are they just saying this for Tokyo?

let me type a little slower this time.....

are they going to release it in the states as an infiniti still or are they going to actually release it as a nissan afterall....

did they simply announce that nissan was going to release it's new gtr and not infiniti because of the fact it is going to be unveiled in tokyo not in the states

also i was thinking about this and that would be a highly stupid thing for nissan/infiniti to do because it will take sales away from the 350z and g35c so the only way to succesfully market the gtr r35 is by making it a special package g35c and not a whole new car....

In the states it will be badged as the Infiniti GT-R, cause lets face it who would buy a $50k nissan? Thats my assumption as to what it might cost, according to motortrend i believe its going to have a 3.5l v6 tt making 450 hp, so i figure $50k would be a good estimate.

who would buy a $130k ford? people with more money than sense.....and i assume it will be the exact same body as a g35c except for front and rear facia, side skirts, spoiler dressed up interior....alot of brushed aluminum, big aluminum exaust tips....ummm what else....they will do somthing with the headlights to set it off...maybe like a black chrome housing...i dunno but nissan is pretty predictable with their sports coupes now

But then you gotta compare what a ford gt is and what a skyline is. Both great cars yes, but outside of the import scene whos heard of a skyline? A ford gt is more known, more rare (in overall build numbers), and pretty much close to a flat out race car. Of course its going to command that kind of money, and people would pay it.

But the Skyline has the name lineage and racing history on its side. So im sure alot of people are going to be forking out the proably 40k for one.

yea but as soon as the Infiniti GTR is announced to the public every dentist, doctor, lawyer and actor will have one and it will no longer be a tuner car it will become a typical rich kid toy/luxury sports coupe....the skyline will never be here what it was in japan...just 2 different markets

The skyline would never be a tuner car in the first place because it just isn't affordable to roughly 99% of tuners lol.

Probably on a higher level than a m3, atleast an e46 one. But the new one coming with the 400hp v8 might be better competition.

ehhh think of it this way...to the average rich buyer he can go buy a European Sports car with a ton of power and prestige...or he can go buy a japanese car that was just started to mimic an old japanese sports car....

I dont claim to be an expert on the new GT-R but I'll share what I do know..

I do know Infiniti trademarked the name "GT-R" here in the states but Skyline wasnt in the name..

I cant say 100% that this is true but it came from a very credible source that Nissan has been testing the "GT-R" here for a while.

None of the sketches that are out thus far are accurate, wishful thinking has me believing that if you mix an R34 Skyline with a G35 you'll get the next generation Skyline which would be the R36. (The current skyline is called the V35.. also known as the G35 here in America)

I could be wrong but I've been anxiously anticipating the release of this car, if they do release the next generation GT-R mull over the idea of selling my car immediately. If the GT-R is in the $50k-$60k price range consider my car sold, it'd be stupid for Infiniti to sell it for anything more than that though.

i'm guessing closer to the $60k mark if not more, simply because this is going to be the first one released in the states. people will sell their houses to have a car for the first time in the states with the namesake of the Nissan Skyline. here again, going back to...
But then you gotta compare what a ford gt is and what a skyline is. Both great cars yes, but outside of the import scene whos heard of a skyline? dude thats all the ford gt is. if you do any kind of research on the old ford gt40 (which is the same car as the new gt, just with older technology) you'll find that the fords were beating out the ferrari's, lotus's, alfa's, and every other make out there in the lemans series. so to say, "yeah, but the skyline has all the racing heritage" you gotta think, thats the only reason they brought back the ford gt so as to commemorate ford's racing heritage and give the enthusiasts the chance to own one.

    ok sorry. back on topic.

Are you saying the Ford GT has no history? They won lemans 3 years in a row with the older Ford GT40 beating all the ferraris and porsches.

The average american doesnt know/care about the Skyline heritage.. I'll say a good 90% of people I've met see a picture of the R34 and dont know what it is.. plus they see the skyline badges on my car and I have to give a brief description of the history of the car.

A lot of Infiniti owners dont want to be associated with Nissan (the irony) they think they are above that, I think a lot of people who will pay $60k-$70k for the car wont even realize what they have.

Yea saying the GT has no history is like saying Jesus didn't die on the cross.

Nissan has it's dick in BMW's mouth when it comes to tuning and extracting horsepower from production engines. One or two mods will mean clear and present danger for next gen M3 drivers..
