Default Lets weed out the stuipd people!

So today at lunch two of my friends started talking about string cheese. It then turned into a argument when on said string cheese taste different when when you bite it(aka in chunks) then if u peel it like the name suggest.

Now my quest is, Does string cheese taste different when its whole/in chunks and you don't peel it?

Also, texture has nothing to do with taste

Due to one person peeling a long thin strand and the other taking a short bit, it can SEEM to taste different due to the different taste buds it hits.

I personally like it in "string" form b/c it hits different taste buds.

I haven't eaten string cheese since elementary school, but I vaguely remember that the outer part tastes a little different from the non-exposed inner part. So if you look at which method has more non-exposed surface area, you could, in theory, have two different tastes from the same cheese.

    Just sayin'.

I agree. Also when you peel it, you increase the surface area dramatically so you get more "taste" the second you put it in your mouth.

So it doesn't really taste different - you just get more taste faster. In other words - better.

Peel on - thats good shit, I still eat it lol

u sir are not a cheese connoisseur. Cheese can taste very different even if its the same piece. The aged area (the outer part) has been exposed much longer, obviously, to the atmosphere vs the inside. So yes, it can taste different. Cheese does age u know...

Yes. I understand the workings of cheese. In fact, I love cheese..on everything..But this is individually wrapped, cheap ass mozzarella or american, maybe cheddar, string cheese.. It needs no debate.

This isn't Caciocavallo Podolico we're talking about here..

I am french, eating is an experience .. Taste is one of our senses.. Texture is part of taste..

Have any of you ever gone wine tasting?

I have been on wine tasting and as far as the cheese... its not really that it tastes different.... but when you string it... you tast less of it and when you bite it in chuncks you taste more of it... it has a stronger taste... not really different...:-)

i so love blue cheese and red wine.... awesome combo...:-)

YES, it taste different b/c string cheese's flavor is on the inside the outer surface area is smooth and bland... the inside is just goodness so if you got more surface area of the inside it will taste better

Well, the way the wine leaves your mouth, called the wine's "texture", the feeling you have when you rub your tongue against the roof of your mouth, HAS EVERYTHING to do with the taste..

So who are we weeding out?

Seriously, NONE of the cheese you can buy here is even close to what cheese would be.. By law they have to pasteurized, which sucks.. The fresh market has some good stuff, but man oh man do I go crazy for smelly aged french cheese when I go back every summer..

Meh, I'll eat my pasteurized cheese but will never drink pasteurized beer. Stinky cheese ftl, High alcohol FTW. And whats with a frenchman with umlauts in his SN, how many times did Germany absolutely rape france over the last 200yrs? I do agree on the pasteurization of eggs though, they're so much better everywhere else in the world than here.

I think the better question for this thread would be, why would you pay $6 at any restaurant for fried mozzarella sticks, when all they are is deep fried, breaded string cheese.

Not surprising, I mean the U.S. isn't renown for their Gastronomy..

Frenchman with umlauts? Well I have a GERMAN car.. See how there is both French and German connotations in my name?

What does that have to do WITH ANYTHING???? This is a pretty ignorant comment.. You do know we are the European Union right? We share the same currency and are technically "one".. See unlike Americans (who go to war in Iraq because...) what happened in WWI and WWII is put aside a long time ago.. We are more than friends, we are allies..

We will see how we (Americans) will do in the wars today.. Maybe, we can add to the list of FAILURES with Vietnam.. Hopefully, we won't..

Following your mentality: You drive a Jap car.. Pearl Harbor ring any bells?

lol, take a joke man. Its funny how much nicer the frenchmen in france are than those I've ever met here in america.

But regarding your comment on america's gastronomy, you should check out some of the finer US craft beers. A lot more restaurants are opening up to the idea of having beer tastings and pairing certain beers with certain meals. Personally I like to pair a good porter or stout with steaks, IPAs go best with hot wings, brown ales and whitefish, etc.

I'm talking about breweries like Dogfish Head who make their beer stronger so they dont have to pasteurize it or use any sort of preservatives, this is beer that ages like wine, and will rival the best of Belgium or Germany.

I am a nice guy, but I thought you were trying to be a dick.. You know, most Americans don't like French people when in fact, French people love America (just don't like BUSH).. This is why I responded the way I did.. Sorry..

The U.S. has definitely step up their taste and have raised the bar for beers.. No doubt..

Brick Store out in decatur has some really nice beer dinners. I think some of the taco macs have them as well but they're not as well done.

I really wish the FDA would loosen up on foods that customers could buy so that we could get some stinky nasty cheese for those of you that would eat it. Or rotten stinky tofu or rare sushi for others. But then again thats opening up a can of worms on consumer responsibility and the govt regulating private businesses that is better suited for another thread.

Yeah, I noticed that a bunch over the couple of times I've been in and around paris. Everyone loves the american culture and the people but not the last administration, but thats been the same with everywhere else I've been to in europe. Love the people, hate the prez.
