Now I know we bash a lot, but it's usually for decent reason. AND if the person that is getting bashed (not meaning sponsors... I understand that rule) is going to get that butt hurt then they don't need to be on any forum. People that get it really hard, are usually the ones that completely suck at forum courtesy. I didn't get bashed one single time when I started. Because I know how to type and I know how speak and I know common forum courtesy. So you really need to play your cards right here... is it worth keeping some new memebers around to lose your main support base? I mean you're not going to get near as many members from noobs signing up as you will from people that have been here for 2-3 years that want all their friends to get on. dude, im not like a true OG of the site or anything, come on, seriously? how is this site going to loose OG's of this site. This is not the first time this site has gone under rule changes over the years and most of them are still hear or come back every now and then. Most of the time people leave this site is either, cause of the stupidity that has erupted on this site or cause they are at a point in their lives where they dont have a crazy amount of time to post. The OG's or people that love posting on this site will always stay around, regardless of rules. Hell most of the OG's probably arent the ones doing the aimless dumb posting and come in every now and then. Hell a lot of them are mods as well and they have put there two cents in to help the rule changes happen. This site has to evolve with times, but only to an extent where its not to crazy. I mean they put the anything goes rule in the whores lounge for a reason and look what it did, gave everyone new rules after a while. Mike was right, once you give some people an inch of lenience, they think you gave em a mile or two to run with it. which is not the case. Changes happen for a reason and there usually good ones.

I understand your point. But how many other forums let you bash anyone. We at least still have some forums that you can do whatever you want. A lot of people join this board to be a part of something - a favorite item in there life; their car. So when that person gets on, and has a riced out ride, he/she gets bashed they leave. I dont want that. You know about the sponsor thing, so I dont have to go into detail. I was just annoyed at the amount of requests I had in the 3 weeks that I have taken over as ADMIN that it drove me insane. Everyone's compaint was "Why am I constantly getting talked down to, or bashed?"
No one is going to leave because of this. I promise you that. Just that when you have someone post a car and then all next 30 threads are about how bad your car is...fuk that. I personally wouldnt give a shit but there are tons of sensitive young people out there.

But that same kid who gets his panties all in a bunch, and has his parents send admin a cute little PM because somebody posted "GOOGLE SEARCH MOTHERF*KR," is probably the same kind of kid that got picked last at his tee-ball games and went crying to his parents. result = the whole entire little league gets a trophy and nobody learns how to make better plays [posts] and deal with criticism.
Yes, IA may be the school of hard knocks - but that's part of why i like it so much. I hope moderators can keep each other in check with this, especially after the complete lacking of moderator control AnthonyF displayed in his feedback thread last week.
hondatech learned this the hard way... after they implemented these rules member log on rates dropped.

my friend [h23bb4] posted up in the columbus forum - i called him gay for mentioning how he is going to be working one someone else's "piece." (which obviously he meant someone else's car... common sense would tell that.)
his post and mine were deleted...
if this is a preview of what we can look forward to, then i have a feeling other small local forums will start popping up and IA will lose it's seeming "monopoly" in GA.

that's EXACTLY what i think is going to happen. I'm going to say something off the wall to one of my buddies that admin doesn't know is my buddy and the shit will get deleted and it'll be ridiculous. There's going to be a whole lot of that shit just to make a point. and people are going to get tired of it and not get on as much as they used to because they can't do shit anymore.
and yes... honda-tech fucking tanked after they went to the new shit. the del Sol thread went from like over 200 posts/day to like 3. everyone just went to their own local forum. IA is on the verge of a southeastern forum, not just atl. so you don't want to start getting too persnickity right now or people will just give up. i mean how many noobs really pm'd you and called it quits, admin? like 1 a day tops? those are the guys that just don't need to be on forums anyway. and if you're going to say what forum lets you get away with half the stuff we do... then show me their active member numbers... i bet it's not 1000+ everyday like we have. this is a very good board and noobs that get butt hurt just need to keep moving and we'll get 8 more to replace them.
If you see something like this , PM AN ADMIN and LINK us to the thread and we will look at it and make a decision.

This site , like it or not, is a business, it COSTS MONEY to run, and operate, Upgrade, etc.
Everyone can pay $5 a month, or let us get sponsors. Plus the site is outgrowing CARS, there will always be CORE CAR people on here, but its branching out into other intersts and becoming more of a community.
theres nothing wrong with Applebees, or Chillis, or Playboy, or Guns N Ammo sponsoring the board, it brings more revenue which means a faster site, less bugs, more meets (that IA sponsors with PRIZES like they have always done) etc.
Im going to talk to the owners about T-shirts and hats to get made and im always out at MOST meets.

Can someone give me an example of something a CAR forum has ever been succcessful at being other than a CAR FORUM? Yes, something in common brought everyone together here on IA, but a "community" it is not. I do have friends on here, i have met friends through this site... but trying to change it into something it is not will be a very, VERY complicated process that will most likely be the start of another lame forum.
Import Lounge was the freakin bomb when i started getting into cars. Import Atlanta soon took over because they had something IL did not... a basic freedom to post whatever you wanted, talk smack, call your friends GAY, and overall liberty with basic rules to keep the peace. (which is exactly what it had until recently)
This is why, i believe, this is a very bad idea. It's turning moderators who are supposed to make sure that folks don't kill each other on the forums, into the Politically Correct Police. Which always has bad results.

There are other ways of making money for the website. MEETS, MEETS, MEETS. The stickers thing was a good idea, then they just disappeared. Also, the license plate frames was a good a Tunerfest. All it needed was more stuff like this and the money would be there. The admins might as well go down to the local chiropractor and ask them to sponsor the website.
All I'm saying is, if this is going to be a car related website, let it be car related.

Also, there is no way in hell you can compare HT to IA. Is the chiropractor sponsoring them? Nope. All sponsors are car related on there. Honda-Tech stuck to what their purpose of a forum was, which is Hondas/Acuras/Anything Car Related, not where I can find the best chiropractor in town.

look no one likes change, but its inevitable. The site has outgrown 5000 members, it costs more to run the site now than it did before. You really think MEETS generate income LOL. It doesnt. Tunerfest , as i understand it, they pretty much broke even every year, so it was put on just for YOU, the enthusiast.
This site is not about cars anymore, it hasnt been for A LONG TIME. People may JOIN because they are INTO CARS, but it migrated from a CAR SITE years ago IMO.
I mean we have photography people , Audio People, food people, gun people, sports people, etc. its actually VERY diverse.
I mean look at the TECH sections, they get 1/100th of the traffic that the WL get. The killsforum has been dead for awhile.
I mean if you think this is a CAR site, you are mistaken. Its a very big an diverse crowd, why not cater to that?
I mean eventually you will be able to read restaurant reviews, gun reviews, tire reviews, game reviews, movie reviews etc. You will get sponsors that offer discounts to your favorite places, that is helping YOU out while covering the cost it takes to grow the website, add new features, throw more meets/events, etc.
I think alot of you are looking way too far into it, as i have said 10 times, 99% of you wont notice a difference, just more CONTENT. Change is difficult for some people, but i promise you the experience will be much smoother and concise in the end once the growing pains are gone.

you guys should really press the "schwag" section on the front page more... or better yet find someone on here who owns a place and will make IA shirts and hats and stickers and banners and all kinds of shit for the waaaaay downlow and sell them shits on here for hella profit. if people on here can get stickers for like $3-4 and shirts for like $15 and you can find somewhere to get them for $5/pc. no one on IA will care and I, for one, will buy a shirt no problem... cause i'm that kind of whore lol.
I'm sure the site is expensive to run but it looks like you guys have tons of sponsors. and if money is all you need there are ways to get it. there are enough members to where a little money from each person would really add up.
i just really genuinely think that cracking down THIS hard on the rules isn't going to solve much. i mean what was the core reason?
1) keeping more members around
2) looking good for the sponsors
3) less PMs for an admin or mod to look at
i haven't really seen a good answer to that question on why these rules are all in a sudden going to be enforced.

Dude most of the OGs are approaching 30 or over 30. Many have families. Im not spending my thursday night at the Varsity passing out fliers to a bunch of ricer kids that are there to do burnouts. Then IF they do join the site, they get bashed anyway by guys like you an they leave. Doesnt really solve the problem does it? How are new members bringing revenue? Sponsors generate income, not USERS. USERS CAN dictate how much you CHARGE to sponsor. What i see is a chance to really diversify and bring alot of different stuff to the site. Hey why limit ourselves to parking lots for meets.
Why not support local businesses that most of us need or go to anyway? What if you get ina car wreck and need to see a chiropractor? why not have a list of 20 to choose from on IA? What if you want to go to a restaurant with your significant other and have no clue where to go? why not read a review or see links to websites of local run businesses to help you in your decision? The internet is VERY powerfull, why not use it?
I dont mean to sound condescending , but many of us run businesses, run our own business, etc and there are certain COMPROMISES you have to do to make the site BETTER.
Dont pass judgement until you have seen what is to come.

I think another way to generate revenue would be to offer different levels of memberships to this forum, much like other well known and much larger sites already do....Not that what I'm saying is some monumental discovery or anything of the like but maybe it's something you guys should seriously consider.
Maybe add a ricer section so that we have a place to go where we can be appreciated and not just hated...:-)

I've been on this site daily pretty much from the very beginning of the very first version. I have managed to not bash on many people, and have never been banned. If I can do it, so can anyone else on here. It's not like they are asking for much, just be civil and act like you would if you were talking face-to-face with the other people - in church. Didn't your parents raise you to be reasonably civil? Everyone is over 18, so everyone SHOULD be able to act like adults - at least most of the time.
Now on the other hand, I have a question for vteckidd, admin, Julio, etc - about QD. If we have some newbie come in and post about "how great streetracing is" in somewhere other than the Whoreslounge, and QD comes in and "wishes that they crash and die in a fiery, painful death" (which he always does - definitely bashing on them), ARE YOU REALLY GOING TO BAN HIM????? This cannot be allowed to happen, as the earth would probably stop its rotation and explode......
Ill be honest that will be a case by case basis. If he disagrees with the kid for streetracing, so be it. If he hounds him around IA and posts in every thread the kid is in, then yeah, thats different.
