Default I got a bad feeling about this

On a shitty note, I don't have a license for 30 days. It's in limbo for some stupid dumbfuck policy the USCIS implemented for non-US citizens on renewals. God dammit.

Yeah, I went in, had the license taken, showed my H4, rejection letter for Social Security #, my Work Authorization Card, etc. Had to go on the 5 day hold. Went there this morning and it was at a 3rd Level Hold and all the shit had to be photocopied and fedex'd out and everything.

Which sucks because I just replaced my clutch

And it's not fun having to have your mother, sister, or friends pick you up and such. I hate burdening people like that.

That's lame! When I transferred schools I wasn't registered for like a month and they suspended my license until I was enrolled again. Two weeks of no license, and then turns out it wasn't even the correct license number. LOLOL

Btw, what movie is your sig from?

the whole license thing is one of the reasons I moved to FL...no hassels...they gave me the same song and dance the last year I was there saying I had to renew my green card...I have had the same one the last 23 years and it has no expiration date on it unlike the new ones that expire every 10 years I believe...I can understand weeding out illegals but I'm here legally so the hell with them...my license down in FL doesn't expire till 2013...never had a problem in GA the last 10 years I lived there till last year...the new green cards are quite pricey to replace so not exactlly an easy thing to do...how much did it cost you to replace yours TheDrunkScotsman??

Personally I wish we could do away with all of this nonsense. We'd need a lot less restrictions on who enters/exits the country if we could get rid of Social Security (Why is the government paying for lazy people to retire?) and nonsense like the Income Tax (Really. It was unconstitutional to begin with for a reason.) If America could go to being a truly open, truly free, truly mixed society then our bizarre jingoistic mindset we've adopted lately would crumble under the weight of ethnic multiplicity.

It doesn't hurt that this could mean the greatest economic explosion in history, either. Or the fact that if we start with this, other nations could follow suit, meaning if I want to go live in Germany, it's just a plane ride away. Japan? Australia? How nice would it be to be able to actually stay in Japan for two years, work there, learn the language, then come home and not have to worry about this ridiculous paperwork bullshit where our governments try and hold us back and keep us from going places and seeing what it's really like to live somewhere else? Or where the government tries to keep people out who it wouldn't have control over by shoving destructive and crippling taxes on? I'm not preaching anarchy, and I'm sure some of you will respond with a "What about National Security?" response. To those of you, I ask you this: Imagine if all these people who work for the IRS or the immigration people could be repositioned to work on finding people who're actually threats to the safety of people worldwide? If we legalized the narcotics and allowed open borders, the smuggling of people and drugs into our country would be replaced by people with free and open enterprise, allowing those people who currently work for the border patrol to do something that could help us be even greater, perhaps they could help stop people who do things that actually make us less safe. Drunk driving enforcement maybe?

And the coastguard could dedicate it's entire focus to helping those of us who want to spend our time on the sea and protecting our freedom and safety out on the waters. What a world that would be? Too bad all of this is just a minimalist-government utopia. Most people are too scared, and the people who aren't, or could really push for change (For example, the green-card holders in this thread who might agree with some of this) have their voices silenced without having any real freedom. What a country America has become, it's good our founding fathers are all long dead, I think they'd shed a few tears, though be far from surprised, to see what the political machines have dragged us down to.

    It's BS

I can't even get a temporary license to go to work and school or anything?

Why? Call DDS Customer Service twice for two different people.

" Those in the SAVE program cannot be issued a temporary license":

What the fuck. So legal status immigrants can lose their jobs, fail school, and be hampered in their day to day lives all because some dickwad doesn't have the fucking information piss perfect in a goddamn system, so it has to be verified by fucking SNAIL MAIL? I mean christ, my shit has to go from L'ville to Conyers to DDS HQ - from there to fucking Washington DC, and then back.

Yep. They are afraid of the outside world, which they have no idea about. Same problem in Brazil. Most people never been outside.

The Europeans are light years ahead of any other region. Its not anarchy/amnesty or whatever you want to call it, it is intelligent globalization.

I have an H4 Visa, and it doesn't expire till 2010.

Long story short - my license is valid, I just have to wait 30 business days for the literal drivers license ID card.
