    Default ATTN: IMBATMAN

Just curious....what makes the Ae86 such a hard car to drive? is it the whopping 112 hp? or the insane G's it pulls while cornering? or is it because its such an amazing drift car, that even an old lady trying to drive it will be sliding it around like tanner foust, unintentionally?

    plz....enlighten us

As an ex-professional drifter, I have to admit that the Corolla was one of the hardest cars to drift. It is actually because of it's lack of power and usually lack of PS.

tracy, its a reference to another thread the OP started. "which is better AE86 or AW11"

iambatman stated that a corolla was better because its harder to drive

I have not attempted the MR2. But I assume it's pretty hard because of where the engine lives

was it you that went flying off track at drift atlanta in that white car a few years ago??

anyway, not a very hard car to drive. yeah, you have to actually drive the car but its not like drifting a dump truck. It has a short wheel base which keeps it from having a ton of angle but bang for the buck, not a bad car.

The AE86 is an underpowered, understeering scrapheap. They're used for drifting because, like the 240SX, they're cheap and perform like absolute @ss. I've driven a handful of AE86's and have been underwhelmed by all of them whether stock or tuned. You've got to be a Clutch Kick Commando to do anything with it.

the guy Cliff that i sold it to ended up selling it because he was unable to source a raw fuel smell when the tank was more than half full....he sold it to a guy off mr2oc from Miss. I went through the entire fuel system before i sold the car to relieve the same issue.....after some brainstorming with the new owner i figured since everything from the fuel pump to the injectors had been replaced by brand new OEM toyota parts that it had to be something simple.....i suggested the charcoal canister.....it completely fixed it.....that was awhile ago, who knows if he still owns it now. car was a champ with that 20valve/blacktop ecu/header/Strong Racing (header->back) koni yellows/HKS springs/kbox f/r sway bars and the miata hollowspoke/potenza combo. it still has some electrical issues....but other than that it was mint..i should have kept it

old toyota's are nightmare's.....though nothing like an old VW

i swear to god, one fo the previous owners had their first attempts at wiring something into the car with the foglight.....there was about a 1/2 mile worth of wire just tucked up under the dash and 80% of it went to nothing

also, my stock radio caused and electrical fire in the dashboard that almost ended the cars life.....that was scary shit being on 400 doing 70 mph and seeing red flames and smoke coming out of the air vents and radio surround
