Led Supreme Court for 19 years
Chief Justice William Rehnquist, who had battled thyroid cancer since 2004, has died at age 80. Rehnquist helped shift the U.S. Supreme Court toward a more conservative ideology and strongly supported states' rights during his three decades on the bench.
