Default Governor proposes cut in gas tax

The governor has proposed to cut out the state gas tax in order to provide some relief to the high gas prices. Although it would not be that drastic it is still nice to see some of our government leaders doing something about the situation. Gov. Perdue just held a press conference and he wants the state senate to pass the resolution and have it go in effect by tonight at midnight. Gov. Perdue also says they will be watching stations closely to make sure the cut is passed on to consumers and asks the public to please call with any irregularities in gas prices if they suspect gouging.

That may be some relief. Is gas taxed just like any other item? 7%???
