Because of the way people act, freaking out and piling up at the tanks, the prices skyrocket. You don't see that shit with any other basic retail need. Like when everyone's hitting up the bread and milk, you don't see the grocery stores being like, "fuck, let's make all the bread $5.00!"

The thing that bothers me about gas prices is that, a store owner has XX amount of gallons that he was going to sell for $2.80 a gallon, he gets word that there's a shortage, and suddenly he jacks his prices. The government should be able to protect us from this type of activity. But, really, its our own damn fault for hording anything that we assume we may not have 100% of in a few days.
