They stayed to "fight" for thier belongings, and family members taht stayed as well, as you can see majority are WHOLE familys not just one person here one person there, and even some that were still in the city were trying to leave, all ways out were PACKED tight. So you are blind to the fact not everyone of them can afford to just get up and leave, Do you not seem to grasp the simple ass concept that a huge amount of the NOL population lives BELOW THE POVERTY LEVEL, in words to make it easier for you to get I guess... THEY ARE FUCKIN POOR!! NO MONEY!! NO CAR!! NO WAY OUT!!! Its not like the city was doing mass buses to get people out, they told everyone to cram onto one side of a highway and drive out. The people who stayed that you see on the news, look at them, do they look like people with tons of money? These are people the city forgets about and because they are poor they have to face the reality MANY of them will die if they havent already. Do you think they sat there and thought how fun it would be to sit there and ride this out then deal with what they are facing now? Do you in your brain even think that ANYONE thought it was going to be like this? I cant believe you dont post smarter posts for someone who tries to act so smart on here. You can bet 100% none of these people chose to stay, the ones that did for a few OBVIOUS reasons.....
1) Cant afford to leave
2) Had to stay because they have family who were to sick or unable to leave
3) Stayed because they want to protect what property the have from looters
Thats just 3 simple basic reasons, But you 2 I guess are to insensitive to feel for what these people are facing. Woman are getting raped on the streets, People are stealing food, A fuckin man shot his sister to death this morning for a fuckin bag of chips!! GOD DAMN DO YOU NOT GET HOW BAD THIS IS? And you dont feel for these people and then ontop of that cal them stupid for staying.... Try living a life they live with a lack of money, Try not acting all high and mightey because you have a house, a car, and a job, because these people who stayed can only dream of having such luxury, they live in low rent apartments in already bad neighborhoods, and now the worse case has happened.
Just amazes me how anyone can not reach out and see how life is through thier eyes, and realize if you were poor and had no way out or had kids or sick relatives, youd be in the same situation, and wanting help to......

Just piss's me off so bad how anyone can look at the people going through this, and not feel for them and just give 100% of your emotion to this and realize we may bitch about gas prices yeterday and whine that we may have to cancel trips this holiday weekend because of gas prices, etc... when in reality, 1,000's have lost thier lives this week there, 10,000+ people are now homless, have no job to go back to, no source of income, and many as we see have no place to go... and the only life they know will be under 15+ feet of water for atleast the next 3-4 months.
But they were stupid to stay as some seem to want to say.....
