    Default McCain picks running mate

WASHINGTON - Republican presidential candidate Sen. John McCain has chosen Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate, NBC News has learned.

She would be the first woman ever to serve on a Republican presidential ticket. The pro-life Palin would also be the first Alaskan ever to appear on a national ticket.

Palin, 44, was elected Alaska's first woman governor in 2006. The state’s voters had grown weary of career politician Gov. Frank Murkowski, whom she defeated in the GOP primary.

She just had a baby with down syndrome.. that requires a lot of time and attention from the MOTHER. Hillary's only child is an adult, big difference so that was never an issue.

I like Mrs. Palin, as I said in the other thread, coming from Alaska we always like to see fellow Alaskans do well but I think this is not a good pick for McCain.

Why not go with Colin Powell to obtain some of the black votes?

From what I can tell, most women are haters of other women, lol. Plus if she really just had a baby with down syndrome, her focus should be that child no the country. No one has heard of her. Colin Powell has experience, name recognition, would obtain the black votes

Well, now the playing field is evened.
I see your Young Black President and raise you a Young Pretty Woman Vice President. Now comes the debates and we, HOPEFULLY, will see who has the better hand.

Sarah Palin has a good, short, history in office. She has stuck to her capaign promises and seems to be a clean canidate for McCains ticket. She might just balance his ticket out. But frankly, where esle could he have gone. If he would have picked a man, he would have lost. Now he just gained all the Hilary lovers that don't like Obama and his ticket will also make the history books as would Obama's. McCain just took the History upper hand out of the game and made it even again. Well played move. I'm still on the fence with either party. I havemy "normal" Party I usually side with but really with the options given this election, I am in the middle and need more swaying. I'm gonna have to watch the debates to get my answers.

Powell isnt interested in running for office on that kind of stage hes already said it 100 times.

He COULD have been the first black president if he wanted to.

He also has endorsed Obama IIRC a few months back because he doesnt like the way the Republican party is going

Supported, even INVITED, the government to drill for oil in Alaska, is a member of the NRA, and is somewhat attractive? Doesn't get much more win than that.

Promoting socialism is a good start. lol

Also, she's not running for president.

I'm still reading up on this Governor. From face value, she looks good but I'll do a bit more research in the meantime.

I think Mccain really messed up his chances. His main arguement was experience. Then he chooses someone with none.

Ironic how everyone downing Obama because of presumed lack of experience have nothing to say about Mcan't's choice. Good one. So he picked an unexperienced woman to pander to all the whiny soccer moms who get their panties all wadded up because Obama did not pick Hillary as his running mate. Should he win and die while in office we'll have an inexperienced, emotional, irrational, hormonally imbalanced FEMALE leading our nation. Can't say that I'm excited about this either.

What Sarah Palin is about to do, is prove how phenomenal it was for Hillary Clinton to achieve what she did because Clinton is a completely different breed.. Palin isn't on that level and she is about to be thrown to the wolves.

    x2.

Although I do agree that this kind of throws Mccain's argument of experience to the wind BUT if you think about not that much. So far though from what I'm seeing she's qualified to be Vice president but not president

How can you say someone is qualified to be VP but not president? By that rationale Airlines can start requiring only a high school dipmoma for their Co-Pilots cause its not like they're in control anyway..

2 years of managing Alaska.. wow. Let me tell you as someone who was raised there, the Mayor of Anchorage does just as much if not more than the Governor of the state, there are executives more qualified than her. I'll take Obama and McCain's legislative experience over 2 years in AK.

Ok here let me phrase it. I can deal with her as VP but not someone I would want as President. Sorry but the whole "Oh McCain is so old so your actually voting for two President's for the price of one" argument doesn't fly with me.

I should've known he'd pick a woman to try and snag those Hillary loyalists.

ETA: So now that he's picked a first term governor as is running mate, will he stop accusing Obama of being inexperienced?

Do you think McCain will live out 2 terms as president with zero health issues that will be critical to the executive office? Answer honestly.

No. Absolutely not. If anything Biden is overqualified for the position he may hold.

No I don't but do you think he will run for 2 term? Cause I doubt he will. I think he will be fine for one.
